FINITE ELEMENTS ANALYSIS

Determine the deflection at the Midspan by using Rayleigh Ritz method and compare with the exact solution. (OR) The following differential equation is available for a physical phenomenon: d2y 0 x 1 10 x 2 = 5 ; dx 2 The boundary conditions are : y (0) = 0 and y(1) = 0. By using Galerkins method of weighted Residuals to find an approximate solution of the above differential equation and also compare with exact solution. The plate is also subjected to self-weight. If youngs modulus E = 2 x 105 N/mm2 and unit weight density, =0.8x10-4 N/mm3, calculate the following a. Displacement at each nodel point. B.
