Research Methodology

Research Method This research utilized the comparative method of study as a type of descriptive research design. Descriptive studies analyze a broad range of phenomena which results in a comprehensive presentation and interpretation of statistical tabulations of data gathered through survey. It described and elaborated the nature and causes of an existing phenomenon at the time of the study. It also concerned with the meaning and the significance of existing conditions and making adequate and accurate interpretations of the data. In this study, the researcher compared the effectiveness of traditional and technological study technique of the nursing student in all level and its implication on the improvement of their academic performance.

Sampling Procedure Simple Random Sampling was used to give every nursing students an equal chance of being picked as sample. The respondents were chosen through draw lots.

Research Instrument A self-constructed questionnaire-survey form type was utilized as the primary instrument for the study to collect data to compare the effectiveness of traditional and technological study technique on the academic performance of selected nursing students. The survey form consisted of three parts that was be answered by they selected nursing students in all level. The first part is for the demographic data that includes age, gender, civil status, income of the family, and preferred study technique ad also include gadgets used in studying.

The second part of the survey includes criteria of traditional study technique and technological study technique that was rated by the respondents according to their perception of its effectiveness. Each study technique has five (5) criteria that were rated by the respondents. The third part of the survey includes the equivalent of the grades in their respective subjects.

Validation Of Instruments The instrument was drafted by the researcher and was consulted to the five (5) experts for revisions and final drafting.

Research Procedure The researcher used questionnaire- survey form to determine the demographic profile of the respondents and their grades on their respective subjects. Upon approval of the communication letter that allowed the researcher to conduct the study to the selected nursing students of Nazarenus College and Hospital Foundation Inc. and permitted an inquiry to the grades of their subjects. The purpose of the survey was explained to the respondents before they signed the consent form. Then the respondents checked the appropriate information that pertains to their demographic profile and rated the criteria given as their perception of the specified study technique. To maintain objectivity as the respondents answer the checklist regarding their grades on their subjects, the respondents handle the copy of the grades of the specific respondent answering at the moment. So as to maintain confidentiality of the grades. After completion. Data from the questionnaire-survey form were tabulated computed and presented with the corresponding interpretations of the data. Results served as the basis in comparing the effectiveness of traditional and technological study technique of the selected nursing students of Nazarenus College and Hospital Inc. A.Y. 2010-2011.

Respondents of the Study The targeted participants for this study are the nursing college students of different level of Nazarenus College and Hospital Foundation Inc. with the maximum number of twenty (20) students A.Y. 2010-2011. Research Locale Nazarenus College and Hospital Foundation Inc. August 15, 1979 was the beginning of an institution that would respond to the necessities and come to the aid of countless citizens in the years to come. The Nazarenus clinic and Hospital was the first opened at Parion St. Saluysoy Bulacan. 20 years later, it was transferred to Saluysoy McArthur Highway, also in Meycauayan City. In 1989, the Doctors Juan and Viginia Tordesillas decided to have a college in their institution. The midwifery, nursing, radiologic technology and health education were the courses offered. In 1991, the institution started to have a college and elementary department for the purposed of giving quality and cost-effective education. In 1996, the three storey building was named NCFH become a secondary Hospital and was also awarded by DOH, for its cleanliness was recognized as a mother baby friendly hospital. In 2001, the college department opened a course in Education and BSE. In 2005 they offered caregiver course. In 2007, it became a tertiary hospital and was named as NCHFI, which offers services such as OR facilities, ICU, OB-gynecology, X-ray, ECG, ultrasound, hemodialysis, 2D echo, and E-laparotomy opretion with 101 bed capacity. I am Lemuel Siapo, a BSN III student of Nazarenus College and Hospital Foundation Inc, Is working a thesis entitled A Comparative Study on the Effectiveness of Traditional and Technological Study Technique among College Students of NCHFI A.Y. 2010-2011 among selected nursing students in all level. CRITERIA FOR BIPOLAR DISORDERS

I. Manic Episode: A distinct period of abnormal and persistent elevated, expansive of irritable mood that lasts at least 1 week. At least 3 of the following symptoms must be present: a. Inflated self-esteem b. Decreased need for sleep c. Very talkative d. Flight of Ideas e. Distractibility f. Increased in goal directed activity g. Excessive involvement in pleasurable activities II. Hypo manic Episode: The symptoms must last at least 4 days. The person must manifest a change in functioning that is observable by others. Not severe enough to result in significant impairment to require hospitalization. III. Bipolar Disorders: Bipolar I patient must have a history of manic episodes Bipolar II patient has experienced major depression and a hypomanic episode. IV. Cyclothymic Disorder: For a period of 2 years, the patient has numerous periods of hypomanic symptoms and numerous periods of depressed moods. The patient is never symptom free for more than 2 months Patient has never experienced major depression.

ACTIVITIES We want all the patients participate in human-puppet keychain making through the use of popsicle sticks and yarn which cover the whole popsicle stick to form humanpuppet then after that place a hook.
