EEE 114 DC MACHINES AND TRANSFORMERS Objectives: The course will impart the concepts and principle of electromechanical

energy conversions in rotating DC machines and energy transfer in transformers and the analysis of their performance characteristics. Expected Outcome: On completion of the course the students will be able to Apply the concept of rotating machines and the principle of electromechanical energy conversion in single and multiple excited systems. Determine the generation of D.C. voltages in different types of generators and evaluate their performance. Analyse the D.C. motor performance characteristics relating to starting running and speed control. Analyse the different type of transformers, working principle and their performance. Estimate the various losses taking place in D.C. machines and transformers and apply the different testing methods to arrive at their performance.
