Jesus Christ is God

Trinity-

God's name is YHWH. YHWH is One God. This One God exists as three Persons: Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit.
These three Persons are Equal in Nature, Distinct in Person, and Subordinate in Duties.

Equal in Nature The Father is no more "God" than Jesus is (divine nature), just as your father is no more
"human" than you are (human nature).
Distinct in Person The Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Holy Spirit, etc. (thus Jesus praying to the
Father or referring to the Father as God is not at all problematic).
Subordinate in Duties The Son always perfectly obeys the will of the Father. The Father sent the Son,
the Son sends the Holy Spirit. (In light of this, "the Father is greater than I" is not problematic but
consistent).

The world often attempts to remove the deity from Jesus Christ by redefining Him as simply a good man.
However, there is an enormous amount of biblical evidence to support the divinity of Jesus Christ. Jesus claimed to
be God, and was referred to as God. He is sinless and He forgives sins. He is worshiped, and even prayed to. He
created everything, all alone, by Himself and for Himself. Jesus Christ possesses all the attributes of God as He
is infinite, all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-present. Because He is God, He raised Himself from the grave and
promises to also raise believers on the last day (John 6:44).

Jesus Christ is the Word who is God.

John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Literally, translated from the Greek, (kai theos en ho logos) and God was the Word.

So, the passage would literally read like this,

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and God was the Word.

Lets take a step further and see how it would read if we remove the word Word and replace it with
Jesus.

In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and God was Jesus.

God became man the God-man

John 1:14 - And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten
from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Phil. 2:6-8 - "Jesus was in the form of God, (Divine Nature) but emptied himself, by taking the form of a
servant, being born in the likeness of men (Human Nature).

Jesus Christ, Himself, claimed to be God.

John 14:8-10Philip asks Jesus, Show us the Father, astonishingly, Jesus answered, He who has seen Me
has seen the Father; how can you say, show us the Father?

Jesus claimed to be one with the Father, (John 10:30), and that those who saw Him were also seeing the
Father (John 14:3), and those that know Him also know the Father, (John 14:7).

Jesus repeatedly used the Jehovaic statement, I AM as used in Exodus 3:14. (John 8:25, 56-59; 18:6, 8).

o John 8:58Before Abraham was born, I Am

o The power of these spoken words of Jesus knocked the soldiers backward to the ground in 18:6, "I
AM He"

Jesus claimed to be the Old Testament Adonai, (Matthew 22:42-45).

Revelation 1:8Jesus is called Almighty God, "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is
and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." (Pantokrator)

Jesus Christ is Sinless. (Ecclesiastes 7:20 teaches that there is no one without sin, yet
Jesus claimed to be without sin)

John 8:46"Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me?

2 Corinthians 5:21He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him.

1 John 3:5But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin

1 Peter 2:22 "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."

Hebrews 7:26For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated
from sinners and exalted above the heavens

Hebrews 4:15For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One
who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin

Jesus Christ claimed power and authority to forgive sins. (Forgiving sins is restricted
for God alone in Isaiah 43:25)

Mark 2:5-10Son, your sins are forgiven."

Luke 7:47-49Then He said to her, "your sin have been forgiven."

Jesus accepted worship. (Jesus said, "You shall worship (Proskuneo) the Lord your God,
and serve Him only" (Matt. 4:10) yet, Jesus received worship (Proskuneo), as God, many
times)

Luke 24:52Disciples worship (Proskuneo) Jesus

Matt. 2:2 Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come
to worship (Proskuneo) Him.

Matt. 14:33those who were in the boat worshipped (Proskuneo) Him

John 9:35-38and he said Lord I believe, and worshipped (Proskuneo) Him

Matt. 28:9, 17took hold of His feet and worshipped (Proskuneo) Him; when they saw Him they
worshipped (Proskuneo) Him

Heb 1:6let all the Angels of God worship (Proskuneo) Him

Rev. 5:8,14When He had taken the book the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down
before the Lamb; And the elders fell down and worshiped (Proskuneo)

John 5:23So that all will honor (Timao) the Son even as they honor (Timao) the Father"

Phil 2:9-11at the name of Jesus every knee will bow (a quote from Isaiah 45:22-23 that calls him god).

Also, Matthew 8:2; 9:18; 15:25; Mark 5:6; John 5:23; Rev. 1:5-6; 5:12-13.

Jesus Christ is prayed to. (Psalm 116:4 teaches, Call on the name of the LORD, yet Paul
teaches to call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, thus equating the two)

1 Cor. 1:1-2call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

Romans 10:9-13Jesus is called Jehovah of Joel 2:32Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be
saved.

Acts 7:59Stephen, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit" (psalm 31:5 YHWH).

2 Corinthians 12:7-9Paul explained his thorn in the flesh (vs. 7). He states that three times he prayed
for the Lord to remove it (vs. 8).
o Who is the Lord that he asked to remove it? Jesus Christ
o The Lord answered Paul, My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness. Paul
glorified that the power of Christ is sufficient to work through him (vs. 9).

John 14:13-14Ask me anything in My name and I will do it

John 15:16Whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He will give you

John 16:23If you ask of the Father in My name, He will give you

The Eternality of Jesus Christ. (He never had a beginning nor was He created. Jesus is
from eternity past unto eternity future... the Alpha and Omega)

patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. 17To the KING OF THE AGES (King
Eternal - NASB), immortal, invisible, THE ONLY GOD, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
The Amen closes the
thought and the subject of
Colossians 1:17He is before all things
this passage is Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the Eternal Life - 1 John 1:2 - the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and
proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us

John 8:58Before Abraham was born, I AM.

John 17:5Now, Father glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the
world was.

Heb. 7:3Had neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God.

Isaiah 9:6Everlasting Father Jesus is the Father of Eternality

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega -

o Rev. 1:7-8 " Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who
pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen. I am the
Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the
Almighty." (Context is King - Consistent with the context of the passage)

The greater context of this chapter includes Jesus repeating the same statement:

o Rev: 1:17 "When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me,
saying, Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive
forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades."

o Rev. 2:8 "And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The words of the first and the last, who
died and came to life."

o Rev. 22:12-13 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."

o God the Father is also the Alpha and Omega. Rev 21:5-6 - "And he who was seated on the
throne said, Behold, I am making all things new. Also he said, Write this down, for these words
are trustworthy and true. And he said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the
beginning and the end. "

Jesus Christ created all things that exist. (The Genesis account describes God creating
all things)

John 1:3All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has
come into being.

Col.1:16For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisibleall
things have been created through Him and For Him

Psalm 102:25-27 Who is this passage speaking of? "Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the
heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a
garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years
have no end."

o Heb. 1:10 The Father declares that Jesus created all things -- "You, Lord, laid the foundation of
the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands"

Comparison to where God declares He created all things -- Isaiah 48:13 -- "My own
hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I
summon them, they all stand up together."

Hebrews 3:4 The Builder of all things is God

Did God use someone else, that wasn't God, to help create?
Isaiah 44:24I, the LORD, am the maker of all things, stretching out the heavens by Myself and spreading
out the earth all alone

Others referred to Jesus Christ as God.

John 20:28--"My Lord and My God."

o Literal Greek translation, "The Lord of me, and the God of me."

The Amen closes the

The JewsFor this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was
breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God (John
5:18).

thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see. Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and
said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!" Nathanael said to Him, "How do You
