The aim of our project is to maintain a specified water level in a tank by controlling the input flow rate. This was achieved by the use of a servo motor, a differential amplifier, an inverting amplifier and a potentiometer that varies with a float in the tank. The mechanical aspect of the project included gearing the motor to the valve so that it adjust the input flow.

The differential amplifier accepts the difference of voltage between the set voltage and the voltage that arise as a result of float height in the tank. The inverting amplifier accepts this signal and gives an output that is acceptable to power the dc motor. A negative signal causes the motor to turn in the direction to close the valve, for a positive signal its vice versa Dc motor turns in appropriate direction based on the voltage it receives.
