A Strange Night

By Pablo Manning Snchez, 2 ESO A

I woke up in a pool of sweat that cold winters night from a horrible dream in which I had lost everything I loved and cherished. I just stared at my wife and daughter making sure that I had actually woken up from my dreadful nightmare. I decided to unravel the hot, wet blankets. I checked the alarm clock my wife had given me for my birthday so I didnt get to work late. I strolled to the window. I could see the storm unleashing its ferocity onto us; then out of the corner of my blue eyes I saw a silhouette of a creature. I decided it was probably nothing and continued to watch the pitter-patter of the rain onto the garden lawn. The next second I saw that dark silhouette come charging at me, I jumped out of the way luckily just in time to avoid being cut to shreds by the shattering glass. My wife and daughter woke up screaming, everything just seemed to go in slow motion from that moment, and at first I thought it was a stupid burglar, but a crack of lighting confirmed my question. At first I didnt believe my eyes: standing in front of me is a bloodied 6ft kangaroo, I looked straight at the beasts eyes and saw they were filled with fear and hate. Then suddenly the 6ft beast was on the bed jumping up and down - and gouging holes into our bed frame. I was paralysed. I couldnt move. I heard my son shout; then as quickly as I heard him I jumped into action. I sprinted down the hallway and jumped the roo from behind. He was much stronger and bigger than myself but I managed to get him in a head lock. I struggled to drag the kangaroo to the door but I managed. As I reached out to turn the door knob the beast let-out a last ditch attempt to free itself from my grip. I opened the door in time to block the slash but at the cost of my pants being shredded to bits. Finally, I could see the end. I gathered up the remainder of my strength and pushed the large beast back into the stormy night.
