DESCRIPTION Competitors will be led through an intense race/obstacle course comprised of various components. 1. Athleticism 2. Team Building 3. Problem Solving 4. Decision Making 5. Academics 6. Bible/Catholic Trivia 7. Miscellaneous Obstacles * Suggestion: Teams have to collect something at each station (a puzzle piece or something more creative maybe something to be used to move from one station to the next), and when moving to the next station, the team has a certain restriction (like holding that rope or walking to the next station taped together.) RULES & REGULATIONS Each team will consist of 12 members 6 men and 6 ladies. The team to complete the course with the shortest time, fulfilling every requirement for each station, will be declared the winner. FLOW OF AMAZING RACE Construct a course that is fun but fair. Make sure that each station is regulated well and that there are referees or judges to guide the teams through the course. A rule for a time deduction is allowed if a team did not fully complete a station. *** Please refer to the Appendix on page 17 for a suggested model of how to run the Amazing Race. DESCRIPTION Do you still remember what it was like to have recess time in school? Whether it was 5 minutes of playing kick ball outside, 10 minutes of dodge ball, or even just being able to enjoy the outdoors, those were the times we looked forward to while in school. Recess Time is an organized gathering that consists of several activities that help foster fellowship among our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. It also promotes healthy living by staying active and encourages positive sportsmanship. In Matthew 18:4, Jesus says, Whoever humbles himself like a child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. So lets all enjoy each others company as children of God, and lets have fun! RULES & REGULATIONS FRIENDLY REMINDER: the venue for conference this year may not be suited for outdoor activities. Due to this constraint, Recess Time may not appear during conference. Regions are free to choose any sports, outdoor activities, board games, etc. to play. However, all activities must be reviewed and approved by the Full Time Workers and Competitions Committee. The duration of Recess Time must be no more than 60 minutes. ATTIRE: Wear athletic clothing and gym shoes. Please dress modestly. You may be asked not to participate if you fail to comply with this rule. Below is a list of approved activities. All activities must be coed (an even amount of brothers and sisters on each team): - Kick ball - Dodge ball - Basketball - Ultimate Frisbee - Relays (egg relay, sack races, etc.) - Tug-Of-War - Hopscotch - Chess - Checkers - Jenga! - Board Games: Cranium, Pictionary, Taboo, Guesstures, Monopoly, etc. - Jump-Rope and/or Double Dutch - Non Gambling Card games (Examples: Uno, ScrabbleSlam, Sorry Revenge, Monopoly Deal, Apples to Apples Bible Edition, Mad Gab Bible Edition) For more ideas, please visit http://www.jubed.com/youth_ministry/

Its

Creative
is
to
glorify
God
in
a
very
dynamic,
imaginative,
exciting
and
inspirational
way.
Create an OG Christian Dance Creative that embodies one of the virtues of Mama Mary. Be creative and think outside of the box. A Mama Mary figure does not have to be in the dance, but it is not discouraged to have one. The goal is to embody one of her virtues. The dance creative may express a story, a life situation, or even a modern bible narrative. Again, be creative! Be energetic! We want to see these virtues come alive in some unique and vibrant dances!
This list of virtues is taken from St. Louis De Montforts Total Consecration to Mary where he encourages the faithful to imitate "the ten principal virtues of the Blessed Virgin." Feel free to research more.
Our
Lady
lived
of
life
profound
humility.
She
recognizes
that
she
was
created
out
of
nothing
in
Gods
goodness.
She
kept
her
vision
--
her
heart
--
on
the
greatness
of
God.
She
saw
everything
she
received
as
a
gift.
She
considered
herself
the
last,
the
least
and
the
lowest.
Humility
is
the
foundation
of
all
the
virtues
according
to
St.
Augustine.
Humility
is
the
foundation
of
a
life
of
virtue
and
life
of
God.
Let
us
embrace
humility.
Let
us
learn
from
Our
Lady.
Let
us
pray
to
be
humble.
Let
us
ask
Our
Lady
to
teach
us
about
her
Son,
Jesus,
who
is
meek
and
humble
of
heart.
(Fr.
Zachary)
Faith
is
a
great
gift.
Faith
is
one
of
three
theological
virtues
so
we
can
relate
to
God
and
live
a
supernatural
life.
Faith
is
a
great
virtue.
Our
Lady
exemplifies
faith
by
saying
yes
to
Gods
plan.
This
little
15-year-old
girl
--
holy,
pure,
full
of
love
and
grace
says
yes
to
Gods
plan
even
though
its
impossible
for
humans
to
become
the
Mother
of
God
on
their
own.
We
walk
by
faith
and
not
by
sight,
right?
Faith
precedes
understanding.
We
dont
say,
Prove
it
to
me
before
Ill
believe
it.
Thats
arrogant
and
proud.
A
life
of
faith
--
pray
for

Faith
is
a
gift.
(Fr.
Zachary)
Our
Lady
didnt
just
close
her
eyes
and
walk
into
walls
--
far
from
it.
That
is
not
Blind
Obedience.
It
means
she
was
blind
to
herself.
Her
vision
was
fixed
on
God
and
God
alone.
This
is
the
obedience
of
love
from
the
Latin,
audire,
which
means
to
listen
with
the
intention
and
desire
of
acting
on
what
you
hear
from
God.
It
doesnt
mean
in
one
ear
out
the
other.
God
says,
Listen
to
me
and
then
act
upon
it.
Selfishness
keeps
us
from
loving.
You
know
selfish
people
cannot
love,
by
definition,
right?
Selfish
people
love
themselves
all
the
time.
They
are
not
able
to
love
the
way
theyre
supposed
to
love.
However,
people
who
have
Blind
Obedience
to
God
like
our
Blessed
Mother
and
the
Saints;
they
are
able
to
love
spontaneously.
Follow
this
call
to
virtue.
(Fr.
Zachary)
Most people only address purity at the flesh level because many people are failing to live purity at the flesh level. Let me share with you the highest level of purity is to love God with all your heart, soul, might and mind. Your life will be blessed. That is the surpassing purity of the Blessed Mother -- she kept her vision fixed on God. When you love God with all your heart, soul, might and mind everything else takes care of itself. Too many people are caught
in
the
battle
of
the
flesh
and
they
are
losing
ground.
The
flesh
is
not
what
we
are
created
for.
In
the
area
of
the
flesh,
it
is
appropriate
that
I
deny
myself.
Sexuality
is
a
gift
and
its
reserved
for
a
sacred
space.
That
is
how
God
arranged
it.
Its
sacred.
You
are
temple
of
God.
You
are
sacred
to
God
so
conduct
yourself
in
a
holy
and
virtuous
way.
(Fr.
Zachary)
She
is
ardent
with
great
zeal
and
fervor.
Remember
St.
Paul
says
in
Scripture
over
all
of
the
virtues
put
on
love.
God
Himself
is
Charity.
To
love
God
with
all
your
heart,
soul,
might
and
mind
--
will
flow
from
the
Virtue
of
Ardent
Charity.
Charity
is
to
see
the
goodness
of
the
Father
in
everyone
and
everything
and
from
that
charity
will
flow
love.
Love
is
the
desire
to
please
the
Beloved
who
is
God
the
Father.
If
you
spend
your
life
pleasing
God
the
Father
in
everything
you
do,
you
will
be
living
the
life
of
Jesus
and
Mother
Mary.
Jesus
lays
down
His
life
for
all
who
accept
Him.
We
are
called
to
lay
down
our
lives.
We
are
called
to
have
a
sacrificial
love.
(Fr.
Zachary)
Thats a good definition of how youre supposed to live -- Heroic Virtue. So it isnt virtue some of the time; it means all of the time according to your state in life -- in every situation in your life, heroically. When were tested in patience we thank God because we can grow in patience. The fruit of the Fourth Sorrowful Mystery the Carrying of the Cross is patience. People get tired of carrying their cross because they are trying to carry it alone. They need to carry it in Jesus. Jesus carried His cross keeping His will on the will of the Father guided by the Holy Spirit while Our Lady was right there. So, the next time youre frustrated standing in the grocery line or caught up in traffic, recognize that it is a gift. Turn to Our Lady and say a Hail Mary. Our Lady will pray for you now and at the hour of your death. Then, pray for those other people. God brings us together in life because we need each other and we need to grow in Virtue. We must turn to Our Lady. Heroic Patience. Do you want to be a hero? (Fr. Zachary)

DESCRIPTION The shirt you wear makes a statement, whether you notice it or not. A shirts design, colors, and theme can be what jumpstarts a conversation amongst your peers or strangers. In CFC- Youth, what you wear can be the icebreaker to start a conversation, and evangelize to others. Since this is an evangelistic tool, and NOT a conference t-shirt, the details of conference (i.e. date and location) are NOT to be added to the t- shirt. The bible verse is required to be on the shirt, but the goal of the design is to represent Christ. RULES & REGULATIONS T-shirt entries must encourage our calling as CFC Youth to evangelize - the design should be able to spark interest from peers and strangers in order to share the Gospel message. T-shirt entries must have a Christian-based theme related to the conference theme, Proclaim the Greatness of the Lord (Luke 1:46-55). T-shirt design must have a Marian theme. It should include an image, symbol, or theme of Mother Mary on the shirt. The design should evoke great respect for the Mother of God. Areas/Regions are free to select the base color of the shirt. Designs may be printed on both sides, but is not required. Designs cannot have more than 3 colors per side. Be creative and make a bold statement but remember to keep the sacredness of the message you want to convey. For example: DO NOT put Im homies with Jesus or have an image of Mama Mary wearing sunglasses, etc. Best examples of Christ-centered t-shirt designs: God is Enough Conference (Ohio, 2005), Love Conference (Florida, 2008), and Beloved Conference (Virginia, 2011). ENTRY & SUBMISSION DETAILS Only one entry per area/region is allowed. Submit entries saved as a png or jpeg files along with a brief explanation of the design via email to your local CFC Youth Precon Competitions Committee. Please use subject heading: Evangelistic T-Shirt Design 2012: [INSERT AREA] NOTE TO REGIONAL WINNERS: Please submit entries saved as a png or jpeg files to cfcycomps@gmail.com by Friday, July 27, 2012. Please include a paragraph that summarizes and describes the inspiration of the T- Shirt. Also, please elaborate on the T-Shirts design and what the details mean. (This paragraph summary will be read aloud during the T-Shirt design presentation. Make it sound exciting and interesting!)

DESCRIPTION Do you know our Catholic faith? As a Catholic, do you know what we believe in? Many cradle Catholics just go through the motions, but they dont know a lot of the basics. If we are to call ourselves Christians, we should get to know Christ. Know your faith. Know Christ. Test your faith in this competition! Teams of 3-5 members will be challenged to answer questions dealing with our Catholic faith. RULES & REGULATIONS In each round, the moderator will ask the questions and the judges will provide the answers and the scores. There will be 3 rounds. Round 1: A Jeopardy-style round with multiple choice and true/false questions. One of the participants will choose the topic and difficulty of the question. *NOTE: If a multiple-choice question is answered incorrectly, there is ONE chance for the other teams to steal the points. Round 2: A lightning round of short answer and fill-in questions. *No points may be stolen in this round. Round 3: The Final Judgment. In this question, the teams must defend themselves against a scenario where their beliefs will be challenged. Each team will have 5 minutes to confer with each other and present their answer in a 1-2 paragraph written response. *NOTE: The judges will score each written response. But only the top 2 written responses will be read to the audience. The questions are divided into four different categories: 1) What We Believe, 2) How We Celebrate the Christian Mysteries, 3) How We Are to Have Life in Christ, and 4) How We Should Pray. Questions will not be taken word for word, but any topic from the YOUCAT may be asked. The moderator must read the ENTIRE question, before a participant can buzz in. Only one person per team can answer the question. Teammates are NOT allowed to confer with each other. *NOTE: To help regulate, the person buzzing in should step away from the other team members. The team must go through a full rotation before another member can answer again. Each member must be given a chance to answer. Each team will be allowed to use their own Bible, The Catechism of the Catholic Church, and YOUCAT throughout the competition. A team or member may be disqualified for poor sportsmanship or for any lack of charity to the other teams.
15
POINT DISTRIBUTION Round 1 16 questions. ~20 minutes 4 Categories. Multiple choice and true/false. Different level of difficulty: 100, 200, 300, 400 points. Round 2 20 questions. ~ 5 minutes 300 points. Round 3 1 question. 5 minutes. Essay will be scored 1-10 x 100 points. A maximum of 1000 points. FLOW OF DEFENDERS OF FAITH *** A PowerPoint template will be emailed to each region in order to ensure a fair competition. For each region, please conceptualize and implement a fair buzzer system. The Final Judgment scenario is formed in a way to challenge the youth to defend their faith in real-life situations.

SUGGESTED FLOW OF AMAZING RACE OPTION 1: MATRIX ROTATION Everyone starts at the same time. First team to complete all the stations wins. Each team starts at a different station. Each station should be prepared for overlap prepare two sets at each station. Try to avoid stations causing traffic with a bottleneck effect. Judges should be assigned per team to monitor and facilitate. Teams should still be timed. Any overlap time over stations should be subtracted from their total time. A suggested landing station should be assigned so that the finishing teams can be easily identified. OPTION to Avoid: Everyone starts at the same time and at the same place. This is chaotic so try to avoid setting it up this way. OPTION 2: STAGGERED TIME Teams will be released onto the Amazing Race course in a staggered fashion that is, in 5-10 minute increments depending on the set up of the course. A key element of this set-up is to have the rest of the teams hidden before the start to avoid teams having an advantage over each other. The teams waiting to start should not be able to see the other teams running the course before they actually run through it. Another key component is to have an alert and accurate timekeeper. Each team will have a separate start and end time because the teams are staggered. Any overlap time should be recorded by the station leader and should be subtracted from their total time. Each station should be prepared for overlap prepare two sets at each station. In this option, judges per team are not required because the course will be entered one team at a certain time.
