The Internal Situation


- Abo Omar, spokesman for the Syrian revolution coordinators union of Damecus and Rif Dimashq, said that the monitors used to coordinate with the regime - Al-Assad's battalions carried out a massacre in Hama that claimed the lives of more than 40 martyrs and caused other 60 injuries through heavy shelling by more than 70 tanks that besieged the districts of Masha'a Al Arb'een, al-Arbaeen and Al-Sabonia followed by storming neighborhoods and setting fire to houses, according to the Local Coordination Committees.(1)(2)(5)(7)(9)(12)(13)(14)(15) - Military aircraft- affiliated to Al-Assad's detachments- carried out intensive fly over Kafr Nbuda, Kernaz, Al-Madiq citadel and Al Lataminah in Hama countryside and also opened fire on Dawar Bilal and western garage of the same city using heavy machine guns.(1) - Clashes broke out between the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Al-Assad's battalions in Irbin, Rif Dimashq.

The Political Mobility

- The international monitors' team visited Duma and Zabadani in Rif Dimashq and listened to the citizens who described the manner of the monitors' dealing with them as being snobbish, as they refused to accompany the activists to the places in which the regime hides its tanks. In addition, the international monitors refused to receive the lists that include the names of the Syrian detainees and martyrs.(1)(2) - Mohamed Al-Domany, member of the Leadership Council of the Syrian revolution, asserted that AlAssad's forces detained about 900 persons in Rif Dimashq since last April 10th, of which 60 persons were detained only yesterday in Harasta.(1)

- Burhan Ghalioun, head of the Syrian National Council (SNC), meets- shoulder to shoulder with a delegation of the SNC- with the Egyptian Foreign Minster for considering the current circumstances in terms of the monitors' task. - Sheik Zayed Hammad, chairman of the Holy Quran and sunnah association, said that 500 Syrian refugees headed for Jordan during the past two days, adding that some of them were exposed to heavy shelling by AlAssad's battalions that claimed the lives of one Syrian refugee and led also to having three injured people of them.(5)(8)

- Saudi Minister of Culture and Information Abdulaziz Khoja said that the Saudi cabinet is keen to do its utmost to stop bloodshed and violence acts currently committed in Syria.(18) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr asserted that the developments of the Syrian crisis prove that the Egyptian ideas-that were previously offered- are still the sole vision that can be applied there which stipulated the rejection of the foreign interference and ruling out the military and security solution to the Syrian crisis, in addition to establishing serious dialogue between the regime and the opposition, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.(1)(5)

- French ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Gerard Araud announced that Damascus failed to abide by its obligations due to the continuity in shelling Homs, which would pose a serious threat to Kofi Annan's efforts.

International
- The American president Barack Obama said" The Syrian people would not stop taking to the street despite the tanks, shelling, torture, detention campaigns and kidnapping there as long as the Syrian people refuses to surrender, we would not surrender and would exert all possible pressures on the Syrian regime." He also asserted that the national sovereignty is not a license for killing the people.(2)(11) - US ambassador to the UN Security Council Susan Rice warns Al-Assad's regime of missing the current peaceful opportunity for solving the Syrian crisis. In addition, she warned Al-Assad's regime of daring to commit more mistakes.(2) - The USA and many other western countries strictly warn Al-Assad's regime of not abiding by the UN Security Council's two resolutions no. 2042 and 2043.

- United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for political affairs Lynn Pascoe said" Fighting is still on in Syria in spite of the fact that Al-Assad's regime previously announced that it abides by the ceasefire decision." He also added that the UN Secretary General hopes that the international monitors' task would lead to putting an end to killing currently committed in Syria.(1)

- Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations Li Baodong said that the current Syrian crisis would only be solved through a political process led by the Syrians themselves, and in terms of respecting the Syrian sovereignty, calling on all Syrian parties to cooperate with each other with a view to implementing Annan's plan.(2) - Russia's ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said that all Syrian parties should abide by the UN Security Council's two resolutions no. 2042 and 2043, calling on the opposition to engage in the political dialogue and stop violence.(2)

- British Foreign Secretary William Hague saidcommenting on the new European sanctions package on Syria- that it is too hard to be optimistic in terms of what had happened in the last 14 months.(1)
