Survey for Teenagers
After surveying fifty teenagers, we have found that there are many different
opinions at Rockingham County High School. Our topics included abortion, the war in
Iraq, gun control, immigration, the President, gay marriage, death penalty, religion,
Affirmative Action, and the welfare system. It was very interesting to see the outcome of
these issues.
Students made their opinions very clear throughout this survey. These topics are
very controversial, which is exactly why we chose them. Thirty-six out of fifty teenagers
voted to ban abortion. Others, however, were very evenly matched such as the war in Iraq
which consisted of twenty-four people in favor of it and twenty-six people opposing it.
Many students believe that guns should not be prohibited because there were thirty-eight
teens out of fifty voting for guns to be allowed. Forty-four teenagers believed
immigration laws should be stricter. The support of President George W. Bush was fairly
evenly matched with only thirty people supporting him and twenty people not supporting
him. Gay marriage and the death penalty were extremely unbalanced. Gay marriage had
only ten supporters and the death penalty had five opposers. The Pledge of Allegiance
has the saying “Under God” in it and only two people don’t want the saying in the
pledge. Twenty-seven of the students supported Affirmative Action. I believe that these
results are like that because many people don’t understand the idea of Affirmative Action.
Last, thirty-nine people agreed with the United States having a welfare system.
Rockingham County High School's students have many different views on these
issues. The majority of these issues were extremely controversial. Many people at RCHS
have conservative views. There are very few people who support gay marriage. There are

many people that support “Under God” being in the Pledge of Allegiance. The United
States of America has many different views, just like our school.
