Bethany Pulkowski Digital Imaging Poster Project

1. For this picture I began with a picture of this girl with sunglasses. I copied and pasted the entire image on itself to create the 2 layers. I then adjusted the saturation and hue levels of the picture. Then I added a little bit of noise to the image so it looked aged and a little bit washed out. I then took an image of flowers and opened that in another page. I used the elliptical marquee tool to select the circular section I wanted to fill in the sunglasses on the girl. I copied the flower section and pasted it onto the girls face and used the move tool to move the section over the sunglasses. Then I used the free transform tool to make the flower section smaller to fit in the sunglasses. Finally, I used the eraser tool to erase the parts that overlapped too much on the white part of the sunglasses.

2. For my second picture, I started with a picture I took and used for my portrait project. I copied and pasted the entire image on itself to create the 2 layers. My sister was originally in the picture so I used the polygonal lasso tool to select and delete her. I then used a blue color filter on the background because the original image had more pink and red in it. I then got a picture from Google of the Girl Talk logo and opened it in another page. I used the lasso tool to select it and paste it into the background page. I used the eraser to clean up the edges and also the blur tool to do the same. I then used the paint bucket tool to change the color of both of the words. Then I opened a picture of Gregg Gillis of Girl Talk in another page. I used the lasso tool to select it and copied and pasted it into the background page. Lastly, I used the eraser and blur tools to clean up the edges around him.

3. For this poster, I took a picture of the Eiffel Tower and copied and pasted the entire image on itself to create the 2 layers. Then I sharpened the image. Then I took a picture of my friend and I and used the lasso tool to select just the two of us. I copied it and pasted it onto the Eiffel Tower. Then I used the move tool to move us in front of the tower. I used the free transform tool to make it smaller also. I then used the eraser tool to erase around some edges and blurred the edges with the blur tool.

4. For this picture I started a blank canvas, which I used the paint bucket tool to color the whole thing black. I also began with one normal colored picture of tulips. I selected the whole tulip picture, copied it, and pasted it 3 more times. I used the free transform tool to make the tulip pictures small and used the move tool to move them all how they are now. I then selected each one in each different layer and applied a different filter effect to all 4 images.

5. For this picture I began with a picture of the beach. I sharpened the image and adjusted the saturation and hue to make it look brighter. I then opened a picture of a cheetah in the grass in another canvas. I used the lasso tool to select it and copy it. I pasted it onto the beach picture and used the move tool to move it into the water. I used the free transform tool to make the cheetah smaller also. I then used the blur tool to go around the cheetah and clean up the jagged edges.

6. For this picture, I started off with a picture of the inside of Mellon Arena. I selected all of it, copied it, and pasted it to create layers. I opened a picture of Mike Rupp and I in another canvas. I used the lasso tool to go around the image, copied it, and pasted it onto the Mellon Arena picture. I then used the free transform tool to make the image smaller and to move it to the right side. I then used the eraser tool to clean up the edges and used the blur tool to clean up the edges too.

7. I started with the picture of the water. I selected the whole thing, copied it, and pasted it to create layers. I opened an image of a Phish fish with a black background in another canvas. I used the lasso tool to select around the fish and copied it and pasted it onto the water page. Then I used the eraser tool to erase the black background from the picture. I used the zoom tool to zoom in and erase more closely. I then copied the image 2 more times and did the same thing. Yellow was my main selected color and I used the gradient tool for one of the fish, and colored the other 2 light yellow and white. I then used the free transform tool on all of the fish to make them the sizes I wanted and also to rotate the 2 on the ends.

8. For this picture I began with a picture of downtown Pittsburgh at night. I first used a filter to add more blue to the picture. I selected the image, and copied and pasted the entire thing to create 2 layers. I opened another canvas, colored it black with the paint bucket, and opened the Pittsburgh picture again. I used an artistic filter to make the picture look like it was painted. In another canvas page I opened a picture of an easel. I used the polygonal lasso tool to outline it and copied it to the Pittsburgh page. I used the eraser to erase the extra white on the outside of the easel. I used the free transform tool to make the easel smaller and to slightly rotate it. I copied the entire Pittsburgh picture with the black border around it to the other picture. I made the image smaller and slightly rotated it with the free transform tool. Finally, I used the move tool to move it onto the easel.

9. For this picture I started with a blank canvas, which I used the paint bucket tool to color black. I then found a picture of a Polaroid picture on Google, which I opened in another canvas. I copied the Polaroid picture onto the black canvas 5 more times. I used the free transform tool to make the pictures smaller and to move/rotate each one around the canvas. I then opened each individual picture, some from Google, some my own photos, in separate canvases. I copied and pasted the flower, hippie, bottle caps, and giraffe pictures onto each different Polaroid. I used the free transform tool to make them all small enough to fit onto the Polaroid. I edited the bait jars and Ferris wheel pictures with a blue filter and sharpened the Ferris wheel image.

10. For my final poster, I used a picture of colored smoke in the first canvas. I copied it, pasted it, and enhanced the color variations so it was bluer. I then opened 4 pictures of Wiz Khalifa that I got from Google in separate canvases. In each canvas, I did relatively the same thing. I used the lasso tool to select the image, copied it, and pasted it onto the smoke background. Once it was pasted onto the background, I used the eraser tool to erase white/black parts around him. I used the free transform tool to move each image around and to make some smaller or bigger to make the picture look better.
