Ridgecrest Elementary Schools Highly Capable Program

The main difference between a HiCap classroom and a general education classroom is the speed and difficulty of the curriculum. For some subjects, our classes study curriculum one grade level above. Students are further challenged by studying topics at a faster rate and also get the opportunity to study specific concepts more deeply. HiCap students should function at an independent level, be self-motivated, and exercise good time management. Ridgecrest teachers in the HiCap program strive to integrate with general education classes whenever possible. Students have the same lunch and recess times as their peers, travel on field trips together, and occasionally work together on topics that all students study. Ridgecrest teachers in the HiCap program work to assist students in extending their learning and increasing their skills. The pace of the curriculum allows students to have more time to focus on projects and meaningful individual assignments.

Program starts at 10AM and ends at 11:30AM.
