HEADING

FIRST PARAGRAPH: INTRODUCTION

Write a short paragraph including the title of the film, the director, year of release, and top stars. Be sure to tell me when and where you watched the film and any special comments about iti.e. was it based on a novel, based on true events, an abridged or colorized version, part of a series, etc.)

SECOND PARAGRAPH: THE PLOT

Write 8 10 sentences that give the gist of the plot and prove that you watched the entire movie. Remember, 8-10 sentences does not allow you to include all of the details of the film, so you need to condense the story line to its essential parts while at the same time proving that you watched it.

THIRD PARAGRAPH: FIVE THEMES OF GEOGRAPHY

Relate the film to the five themes of geography. For Region, you will probably have to research where the film took place and in what region it lies. Remember, regions are ideas about places, ideas that can overlap; make sure that choose a region that is relevant to the film. In very few cases, there may be one theme that you cannot use. For example, if it is a make-believe place, it would be difficult to determine a region. If this occurs, make sure that you check with me. Also, if you conclude that one of the themes cannot be used, make sure you address and defend that point. (1) Location: Where is it? (2) Place: What is it like? (3) Region: What makes this area unique? How is it alike or different from other parts of the globe? (4) Movement: How do goods, people, or ideas move from place to place? (5) Human/Environment Interaction: How do people relate to the physical world?

FORTH PARAGRAPH: THE REALITY

Were the characters in the movie based on real people? Were the events depicted real? If so, were they depicted accurately? If several locations were used in the film were they depicted realistically? (Were there forests, mountains, rivers, etc. where they should have been for the real setting?) Were the houses, furnishings, foods, tools, weapons, clothes, hairstyles, shoes, streets, etc. shown with accuracy? Give some examples of things that you thought were particularly well or poorly represented.

FIFTH PARAGRAPH: MORAL OF THE STORY
In this section, I need you to really think about why the film was made. Whats the point that the filmmakers were trying to get across? In other words, what are some of the global ideas on which the creators of the movie premised, or based, the plot?

SIXTH PARAGRAPH: EVALUATION

Explain what you liked or did not like about the movie and why. Were the actors convincing, or inadequate? Were there places were the plot was too slow, confusing, too fast, unclear? Did the story build to a logical climax and resolve itself satisfactorially? Were you interested the entire time? Why or why not? If the film was made a long time ago, do you think that it would be made differently now? Why or why not? What would have made the film better? Here are some other suggestions to consider: Plot structure Cinematography Special effectsActing Costumes Sound Directing Lighting Editing

FINAL PARAGRAPH: RECOMMENDATIONS
