Foreword

The Quran, a wonderful document as it is, has been and is the most vastly read book in the world. It has been a focus of attention by scholars over centuries. Human appreciation of Quran is limited by time and space. As the frontiers of human knowledge keep extending the Quran is rediscovered and its contents reveal new dimensions. It needs to be referred time and again with afresh mind. This resulted in the production of a number of reference works of great variety. As the need is unending the reference services are on going. there are different types of indices, concordances and other referrals yet there is need for many more.

My dear friend Abbas Zaidi is a devoted reader of Quran for the past several decades. He has been organizing and participating in a series of group discussions on the Holy Book. He has attempted to prepare a short thematic referral to the Holy Book. The choice of the terms of reference is his own. He has some themes related to modern scientific discoveries such as escape, velocity and some related to modern socio-economic concepts such as social security. These references are generally direct but occasionally they stand for an indirect reference.

I hope that this work which is loves labour shall receive a warm welcome and shall prove helpful to those who are in pursuit of a wider and deeper study of The Quran.

PREFACE
The Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad by God Almighty. It is an integral part of knowledge, wisdom and guidance. Most eloquent, authentic and authoritive: it deals with all the problems faced by human kind. The meaning of Islam is peace and surrender surrender to the will of God, the most merciful and beneficient, and this is the only path that leads to a life of happiness, justice, peace, prosperity and dignity for human kind in the world and after.

It is therefore incumbent upon Muslims not only to read the Quran, but also to understand it, reflect on it and ponder over it. This will enable you to become a good Muslim. However, the Holy Book was not revealed to the Prophet at one time as a complete book, but in parts according to the needs and requirement of the moment. The subjects, therefore, that have been discussed are interspersed. They complement each other. The subject of marriage, for example, has been discussed in various Aya and Suras as they were revealed to the Prophet. The purpose of this book, therefore, is to help those readers of the Quran who also want to read about respective subjects in a coherent manner. Abbas Zaidi, a keen student of religion, has undertaken this arduous task to compile and cross-reference various subjects. He is a well-known figure in Urdus literary circle in UK. I am sure that this book will be a useful reference manual for students of religion, both Muslim and non-Muslim, who are interested in knowing about Islam. Abbas Zaidi deserves congratulations and commendation for his hard work in writing this much needed book.

INTRODUCTION
In 1992, when I was in Hyderabad, India I heard about the meetings of the Quaranic Study Circle. For a long time I had always wanted to study and to understand the Holy Book closely, but I was a bit hesitant as I am not fluent in Arabic, the language of the Holy Book. Mr Naimaithulla Moosvi, who is a scholarly person and a close family associate, is the organiser of these meetings. He encouraged and guided me to become a member of this study circle, and after his advice I started attending these meetings regularly. During one of these meetings, Mr Moosvi quoted Imam Jaffer-e-Sadiq (AS) as having said: To understand any one Ayat of the Holy Quran one must refer to other, similar Ayats in other Suras This advice helped me to follow the Book of Light, and this is how I was inspired to gather the cross references of the Ayats. In 1998, my daughter-in-law, Faheem, persuaded me to put this work on paper and prepare a Ready Reckoner for the benefit of all. In 1999 my good friend, Dr Ali Baqir who was in London, saw my work and gave me valuable suggestions. The title of this book Index of Quranic Suras Content Wise Thematically Arranged is one of them. I have selected those topics which are of interest and concern to the younger generation and students of the Holy Quran. I hope that my humble work will be appreciated and utilised. Any suggestions or comments from the readers are welcome. I hope that you will pray that Allah may give me strength to continue serving Islam. I have compiled this work based upon the translations of the Holy Quran listed in the bibliography at the end of the chapter Topics of the Holy Quran. My special thanks and blessings to my nephew Mr. Taqui Abbas for all the additions on the revised work. I prey to Almighty to shower His blessings on him and on this family .

Mohammed (PBUH) is none less but the Apostle of Allah like Many Before Him. Allah forgives Our Sins and Helps us against the unbelievers. Allah is your Protector. Moral Supports of Allah in the Battle of Uhud. If Allah Helps You None can Overcome You. He sent among them an Apostle from among Themselves. Martys are Alive and get Their Provisions.
