Over the course of the assignment Ive been asked to try and experience what it means to be a minority because

at many points in our lives we dont experience these things. In being asked to experience five different events that would allow us to be a minority within a new majority I have attended numerous programs and each time we needed to push ourselves to feel uncomfortable in order to learn from it. The events that I attended taught me a great deal about various groups and viewpoints yet it is the things that I learned about myself that had the biggest impact on me as I was forced to question the diversities that I knew and thought I knew. These five chances all pushed me outside of my comfort zone in order for me to truly grasp what it means to be a minority. However short these experiences are compared to the other moments in my life still pushes itself forward because of the impact theyve had on me. Ive learned about addressing differences in students and myself that will often come up and how to better understand these differences as an educator. The main point that I need to remember is that these are not snapshots that apply for all instances, but a series events that are constantly changing and needing to adapt, and when the time comes, to teach. Ive come to realize that I am going to be a teacher, a career that is not only 8 hours out of a day. It is a position that I live in every moment and am judged based upon my actions. This entire series of experiences have shown me that these perceived minorities are that same way. Every hour they are held accountable by society, just as I am.
