Tirlok Maliks New Film "Khushiyaan" Plays a Successful

Fundraiser in New York

Kulbir Kalsi: Nearly 500 people attended the non-profit Indian American Forums fundraiser for senior citizen programs in New York
recently. The audience was overwhelmed by the flashing lights of media.The event screened Tirlok Maliks new film Khushiyaan at the at
the School of Visual Arts Theater in the heart of Manhattan. People found the film a very emotional experience. Everyone could relate to
the universal story of the journey of a family, involving the complex layers of evolving relationships.Sree Sreenivasan introduced Malik
prior to the screening and praised his pioneering work in Indian American filmmaking.Malik was given citations from the Town of
Hempstead and Nassau County in Long Island, presented by Kamlesh C. Mehta and Dr. Bhupendra Patel on behalf of the members of
the Indian American Forum, in recognition of his work.Here are some of the comments of what people said:Its a must-watch film for
everybody, said Dhaman Chatwal.Dr. Bhupendra R. Patel congratulated Tirlok Malik for making such a beautiful film.Malik was
overwhelmed by the response to the film and the success of the event.It was very emotional watching this film with my mother, said
Neeta Bhasin.I havent cried, like in so many years until I saw this movie today, said Billy Singh, commenting as he exited the theater. It
felt good to have tears.The film portrays the complex emotions of leaving parents in India and getting caught up in a busy American life.
Shot in both New York and India, Khushiyaan combines family drama, comedy, and music into a thought-provoking story.Ken Naz,
president of the Americas for Eros International said, I and Eros are very proud of Tirlok Maliks film Khushiyaan.Khushiyaan is produced
by Darshan Garg, D.P. Goyal, and Pardeep Bansal.The music is composed by Jaidev Kumar and including lyrics by Kumaar. There is
also a Shabad sung by the late Shri Jagjit Singh.The film stars well-known names of Punjabi Cinema: Kulbushan Kharbanda, Rama Vij,
Tisca Chopra (Taare Zamin Par), Deep Dhillon, Shrey Bawa, Vivek Shauq, Gurpreet Guggi, and many more. And introducing Jasbir
Jassi (famed singer Dil Ley Gayee Kudi Gujarat Dee). Story and screenplay Rajan Gangahar and Tirlok Malik.Tirlok Malik is a pioneer of
films about Indian-American immigrant themes and a New York Emmy Award nominee. His new film Khushiyaan has been screened in

Indian Idol fame Panna Gill brings Punjabi album Heeriye

Kulbir Kalsi: The young sensation in Indian music industry, Panna Gill released his Heeriye Punjabi music album
here today. This is yet another great work of music by this versatile singer. One of the most foot tapping song
Khanak Teri Vang Di is already creating waves on various television channels and is getting eyeballs on the
Youtube also.In 2007, Panna Gill released his first ever debut album Panna, which was a collection of 8 powerful
yet melodious songs. Panna has grown up listening to all kinds of music. He loves all kinds of songs as he says I
am influenced by western sounds as much as by the Indian classical. So picking any favourite would be really

difficult.For him, singing a song with all his dedication and effort is every time a new love affair for him. Panna, who
has always been inspired by his father renowned devotional singer Lakhbir Singh Lakha, believes that persistent
efforts never go in vein. He kept on pursuing his interest in singing along with studies and finally got the chance to
participate in Indian Idol Season-2 in 2006 where he was able to impress the judges. This talented singer left Farah
Khan, one of the judges of Indian Idol-2, emotional and completely moved with his singing. Farah Khan once
remarked Panna is my personal favourite and the most interesting performer among the eight finalists. Though
Panna Gill could not make it to the final, he definitely won the appreciation of the judges and made the world stand
and notice him.This multi talented singer started singing at the very young age of 13 years and since then there is
no looking back. He honed his voice and took training under the able guidance of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan,
who is adept in singing and is endowed with a melodious voice. Under his guidance, Panna learnt music in its true
form and realized that with proper training and practice, one can really manipulate his voice to give a rising or
falling effect of sounds.Heeriye album, produced by T-Series, has 7 Punjabi numbers. Its music is given by
