The source was published in 2007, as the copyright date show the year. The source is current for research needs as they feature sensor systems in the traffic light system and it is explained extensively. There are no republications, however, this source is considered appropriate as it is the one of the more current and appropriate sources to be used for value-adding the project. This source was cited 7 times by various research papers and university projects. All citations are recent from the year 2009-2011. The source is from The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) a prestigious and non-profit organization that is dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence. Yi has a Ph.D. in Computer Science, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA, 1997. He also has a M.S. in Computer Engineering, Institute of Computing Technology, and Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, 1991, and a B.S. in Computer Science at University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China, 1988.Yi has extensive research experience on nonlinear and combinatorial optimization, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, wireless sensor networks, distributed and mobile computing,. He has published over 140 refereed journal and conference papers, and has been awarded 6 US patents. Many of his works are well received. For example, he pioneered the multidimensional scaling based approach for ad hoc network localization and one of his papers has been cited over 600 times. He has served on program and/or organizing committees of over 40 international conferences. His research projects have been funded by federal and industrial grants and contracts from US Army, Microsoft,

Raytheon, and University of Missouri Research Board. These give him the credentials to write this journal and his sources can be trusted. Usefulness TP#1: Usage of traffic simulators can realistically enhance the work experience, as it allows us to make changes to traffic policies (i.e. the best speed limit to be set by the speed limiters), and determine the optimum distance for the sensors to detect vehicles by observing vehicle deceleration in the simulator which may be dangerous to test in a real environment, as it is crucial to determine the distance for which the speed limiters to be activated for safe deceleration of vehicle. TP#2: Gives the idea of what a transmitter-receiver unit should be consisted of. Therefore, tiny but powerful enough software must be needed in order to retrofit this device into vehicles and traffic lights alike without taking up too much space. The OS or operating system should be provided by ATS Traffic Pte Ltd, a Singapore based traffic engineering specialist contractor. However, note that the unit must be waterproof to prevent any form of system failure if downpour occurs. Collaboration with them would result in a better end product because they are the manufacturers for traffic lights in Singapore, which gives them the expertise and experience in traffic hardware. TP#3: Magnetometer sensors can be used to be retrofitted into the camera to detect not only the receiver fitted in the vehicle, but it detects the body of the vehicle itself in case the receiver does not work. Figure 1 explains where the magnetometer can be placed. It will be installed inside of the camera unit, as the camera utilizes wireless networks to

detect an approaching vehicles receiver, rather than detecting pedestrians as vehicles are easily identified by their size and ferrous make.
