Equivalent Forms of Exponential Equations

The Great One

How many names do people have? How many do you have? People can be identied in more ways than you may immediately realize. For example, consider how the names and terms on this visual could be used to describe the same person. In this way, numbers are like people. They can be represented in a variety of ways, depending on the situation. Think about powers. Can any number be written as a power of any other number? If so, how and why might this be useful?

Method 2: Use a Graphing Calculator

Enter the left side of the equation as one function and the right side as another function and identify where the graphs intersect. It may be necessary to experiment with the window settings in order to view the point of intersection.

Use the Intersect operation to determine the coordinates of the point of intersection.
