Meet Ms. K!

Dear Families of Mrs. Vargass Class, I would like to introduce myself as your childs student teacher for the next few months. My name is Sarah Klaiber, and I am a senior in the Elementary Education program at the University of Illinois. This semester I will be spending every Tuesday and Wednesday in Mrs. Vargass classroom, observing and learning from her and her students. In my early weeks in the classroom I will be helping individual students with work. As time progresses I will take on more responsibility, working with groups and teaching lessons. I will even take over the class for two days before winter break. My home is in Evanston, Illinois. This diverse community, just north of Chicago, was a wonderful, and interesting place to grow up. I feel it has provided me the tools and experiences necessary to be successful in the profession of teaching. My father, Evanston Fire Chief and U of I alumni, instilled in me a strong work ethic and love for education. My concentration in the teacher education program is Spanish. I plan to teach English in Latin America or Spain for a couple years after I graduate. Language learning and traveling are two of my serious interests. I love learning about people and the many aspects of their cultures. After I return to the U.S. my goal is to earn my bilingual teaching certification and work in a bilingual/ESL classroom setting. My time in Mrs. Vargass classroom will be my first real step towards into the world of teaching. Although I have spent numerous hours working in classrooms, this will be the first time I feel fully immersed. What I learn and experience in this class will be the foundation for my teaching career. I am extremely excited to work with your children. I feel like I am going to learn so much from them. I believe I will be able to give them new knowledge and insights as well. I hope to be a positive and influential addition to your childs classroom. I am very appreciative of this opportunity to work with Mrs. Vargas and her great students. If you have any questions, or concerns please feel free to call or email me. I would love to hear from you. I believe in a having a welcoming classroom environment which involves family and the community. I know we will all work together to create a strong, positive learning environment. Sincerely, Ms. K
