The Phalashruti verse (the verse that tells us about the benefits of chanting) here is very interesting. Chant for 2 months - success in all endeavors Chant for 6 months - will even gain a kingdom Chant for 1 year - Lakshmi Herself will start worshipping that person! There are many powerful Devis in Kashi (Varanasi) and Mahalakshmi Shakthi Peetam is considered to be the most powerful of all. The Kashi Khand, chapter 100, describes worship of the nine Gauris with Mahalakshmi being the ninth Gauri.
