Intended Module Learning Outcomes


1. To understand the definition and purpose of knowledge management , and to appreciate the principles underlying KM. 2. To learn evaluate knowledge managements value proposition and to appreciate the attributes of a knowledge-based organization. 3. To understand the key drivers of knowledge management and how knowledge management helps avoid loss of know-how and repetition of mistakes. 4. To be able differentiate between knowledge, information and data, and to understand the conversion processes underlying the IM to KM transformation.

Assignment:
By choosing any organization familiar to you, state its mission and give a brief overview if it incorporates knowledge management objectives or not. The above notwithstanding, state one key characteristic of the organization that motivated your choice, and identify specific knowledge as intangible asset that is critical to that business. Explain how you can use knowledge management (KM) principles to create economic value and competencies. You may refer to some appropriate key drivers of KM as motivating factors towards ensuring a knowledge-based workforce. (Note that, you are permitted to create a fictitious company as a case study)
