Equity Research is a field that has evolved and transformed the financial sector over the past few decades. With the capital market in doldrums, sentiments and confidence reaching all time lows, investors are going back to fundamental and technical analysis which seems to have taken a back seat from past few years. Equity Research helps the investor to know about the value, risk & volatility of the covered security, and thus assist investors to decide whether to buy, hold, sell, sell short, or simply avoid the security in question. The stock market is a huge potential investment market where many gain & many lose. Inspite of huge population, the percentage of people investing in the stock market is very less. This may be because of lack of awareness & they do not want to take risk. There is much volatility in the stock market. This paper investigates the reasons for the volatility of equity market and to mitigate the risk by identifying the economic factors which influence this by taking proper measures.
