Vapor Flow to Equivalent Air Flow Conversion Equations

Enardo standard flow curves show performance based on air at either standard or normal conditions. These curves may be used to determine performance at actual conditions with a vapor other than air by calculating an equivalent air flow as follows:

Calculations:
1.) To determine the flow of a vapor in Actual Cubic Feet per Hour (ACFH VAPOR) when given a mass flow rate in Pounds Mass per Hour (lbm/hr) at a specified Pressure (P) and Temperature (T), use equation 1.

2.) To find the Vapor Density (p) at Temperature (T) and Pressure (P), use equation 2.

3.) To determine the flow rate of a vapor at standard conditions, Standard Cubic Feet per Hour (SCFH VAPOR), when given the volume flow rate of the vapor in Actual Cubic Feet per Hour (ACFH VAPOR) at a specified Pressure (P) and Temperature (T), use equation 3.

Likewise for Air

4.) Volumetric flow is inversely proportional to the square root of the Molecular Weight (MW) of the vapor. Actual volumetric flow of the vapor can therefore be calculated by equation #4.

5.) Equations 1 thru 4 can be combined to determine the equivalent air flow at the standard conditions, Standard Cubic Feet per Hour of Equivalent Air (SCFH AIR), when given the volume flow rate of the vapor in Standard Cubic Feet per Hour (SCFH VAPOR). This is given as equation 5.
