Developing Farming & Gardening curriculum links

A free CPD afternoon (1.00pm to 4.00pm) Monday 31st October 2011

The Food for Life Partnership would like to invite you to an exciting farm-based CPD afternoon to explore the links between food, farming, gardening and the curriculum, as well as helping to bring your curriculum to life with practical classroom, garden and farm-based activities. There will also be opportunities to learn about the practicalities of setting up a farm link. The Food for Life Partnership is committed to transforming food culture in schools and their communities For more information, visit the website at www.foodforlife.org.uk The event will be held in the new Ecocentre at the Farmeco Community Carefarm, a third generation 265 hectare mixed farming enterprise in Nottinghamshire, around 20km north east of Nottingham.

This day is suitable for primary teachers, secondary teachers and teaching assistants and is open to all schools.

Outline of programme:
1.00pm 1.15pm 1.30pm 2.15pm 3.00pm 3.45pm 4.00pm Arrive at Farmeco (parking available) Welcome - Tea and coffee on arrival Introductions Farm tour Exploring Curriculum links activity and setting up farm visits led by Will Marcombe (Farm Links Officer for the East Midlands) Growing Activities Planning an all year round harvest/ composting / curriculum links led by Liz Woodward (Garden Organic Officer for the East Midlands) Question and Answer session Finish
