CHANGE THE WORLD BY CHANGING ME

In his younger days, he sees the world with absurdity. He was burdened
with humanitarian problems. He wants change people’s perception through his
idealism. He was full of conviction, beliefs and ideas just like the other youths. He
was becoming impulsive.

When he was old enough, nearly matured, he became tired of changing

humanity. He became practical and realistic when he admitted to himself that
massive change is difficult to attain. From being universalistic he became
particularistic by focusing his concern on those people around him.

As the man grew old, he realized how he wasted his life. Instead of
changing other people he forgot to change himself first. He was eager to
manipulate other people through his strong held convictions. He was able to think
the needs of people without assessing what is missing in his life.

There are youths that are often misguided by their convictions; they are
impulsive when they declare that they want to change the world. Their beliefs
allow them to become very idealistic. They become obsessed in changing
people’s live without even noticing how their ages have gone past. They often
miss the essence of change which is to allow yourself to change first before
imposing other people to change themselves. It is very important to analyze one
self’s first and look at our own reflections because change starts from within.

The message of the author tells us that no matter what confronts us, the
kind of change that always counts the most is self-change. The poem connotes
that in every life the most important change is self-change. It was too late for the
author to realize that you can change the world by changing yourself.
