RUBRIC Attendance and Participation

Your grade is automatically 20/20 every evaluation. However, every time you do any of the following: being absent and late, not participating actively participate in class, not following any instructions well, and so forth, one point will be deducted from your grade. Remember, your essays are also considered part of your attendance. AMATEUR (1) Grammatical errors severely hampered communication. Communication was severely hampered due to lack of vocabulary. Much effort was required to maintain the conversation. There may have been many long pauses. Student didn't understand or ignored most questions and statements. Student may have been using notes. ACCEPTABLE (3) Grammatical errors led to many minor difficulties or one major breakdown in communication. Some difficulties arose due to limited vocabulary and/or bad diction. Some effort was required to maintain the conversation. There may have been a few long pauses. Student failed to answer some questions appropriately OR failed to acknowledge some statements and incorporate these into the conversation. ADMIRABLE (4) A few minor difficulties arose from not using the grammar studied in class. A few minor difficulties arose from not using appropriate vocabulary. Some minor difficulties maintaining the conversation were evident. Student responded to most questions, acknowledged most statements, and incorporated many of these into the conversation. EXCEPTIONAL (5) Grammar was used effectively to communicate. Vocabulary used to express ideas was eloquently. Student acted as a facilitator, helping the conversation flow and develop.
