What is Teleradiology
Teleradiology is defined as the electronic transmission of radiological images from one location to another, for the purposes of interpretation and/or consultation and can be used in many scenarios
Proposed Project(Web-Rad)
To connect Civil hospital s of Maharashtra to a Central Server so as to facilitate reporting of scans from radiologists anywhere Aim is to connect radiology equipment like CT Scan, MRI Scan and X Ray in 5 district Civil hospital to local workstations and then send the images to a Central Server Specialist radiologists from anywhere will provide accurate and speedy diagnosis benefiting the people Facility will be available 24 X 7
Benefits
To Patients
Immediate availability of Radiologist opinion to needy patients The Teleradiology initiative is aimed at extension of benefit of information and communication technology to provide health care services to the people particularly in the under-served rural, semi-urban and hilly areas This project can augment existing public health care systems It will provide specialty services where they are not available or radiologists are not available Provides Mobility: Move the data not the patient Every year thousands of patients can be benefited and the load on Bed hospital can be reduced through this Better referral procedures established
Benefits
To Doctors

Benefits
Cost wise
Costs saved by patients for traveling to superspeciality hospitals Costs saved by expediting treatment reducing morbidity and mortality Costs saved by retention of radiologists at higher centers Costs saved by reducing load on tertiary hospitals
