Why is Rizal the greatest Filipino Hero?

He is our national hero because, as a towering figure in the Propaganda Campaign, he took an admirable part in that movement which roughly covered the period from 1882 to 1896.He could have been whatever he wished to be, he could have earned considerable sums of money from his profession, he could have live relatively rich, happy, prosperous, had he not dedicated himself to public matters. He sacrifices a lot and suffered for the freedom of our country. He formed La Liga Filipina, a forum for Filipinos to express their hopes for reform and freedom from the oppressive Spanish colonial administration. He was arrested as a revolutionary and was exiled in Dapitan, Mindanao. His writings and La Liga Filipina were banned. Later, he was imprisoned in Fort Santiago, Manila after a trial. On December 30, 1896, he was executed by a firing squad at Bagumbayan, now known as Luneta, in Manila for spreading ideals of revolution. On the eve of his execution, Jose Rizal was a native of the island of Luzon, of which Manila is the capital. He was therefore a Malay, with the brown complexion, black eyes and straight, black hair which are the physical characteristics of his race. Because in this writers humble opinion, no Filipino has yet born who could equal or surpass Rizal as a person of distinguished value or enterprise in

danger, or fortitude suffering. Jose Rizal is a rebel but in a peaceful way. His writings expressed his love for his country and his people. His ideas are fully expressed in a way that things will be resolve in a peaceful manner. And also dying for whatever he stands for. Rizal basically gave birth to the rebellion against Spain called "Katipunan." Andres Bonifacio is the sort of the general aligns himself with Emilo Aguinaldo into the liberation for peace in the Philippines. I know how it may seem weird how Andres was actually the ones whom gave the fight, but it was Rizal who had gave his life at risk and sentenced to death by the Spanish to have gone against them. Hes a great inspiration actually; he refused to escape even though he had many opportunities.

Because he is a man honored after death by public worship, because of exceptional service to mankind. We can say that even before his execution, Rizal was already acclaimed by both Filipinos and foreigners as the foremost leader of his people. He wanted to express his death as a sign to our fellow countrymen to act on and to fight for your country.
