2010 Directors College Theory Placement Exam Placement into the required Directors College Theory class is accomplished

via a placement exam (located on the following five pages). Please complete the Directors College Theory Placement Exam and return it to James Estes by June 15, 2010. Each director not previously testing out of theory, or completing Theory 4 must complete the exam. Theory Placement: There are four levels of Theory, and four pages to the theory exam. Each page represents the basic material covered in each level of Theory. Please complete the exam to the best of your ability. In other words, only complete as much as you can. This exam is designed to place YOU in the appropriate level of Theory. Please use the honor system when completing the exam. Once the exam is graded, you will be placed into a Theory class. To help you better understand your placement please look at it in this way: If you successfully complete page one, with no errors, but go no further, you will be placed in Theory II. If you successfully complete pages one and two, but incorrectly answer questions on page three, you will be place in Theory III. etc. Testing Out of Theory: There are two ways to "test out" of Theory; you receive a 100% on the exam OR you took the Theory 4 class at a previous Directors College. You will be given the option of taking an elective class during the time that Theory is offered. The Directors College staff is hoping to make your entire experience a great one this year. You can help in that process by completing the appropriate forms on time. If you have any questions about the Theory Exam, please do not hesitate to contact the Society office.

_____________________________________________________ Performance Notes

"April eleventh, when we were to meet, was a fine, warm spring day. Rupe Hall got there first and went down to arrange for the feed. Donnie O'Donovan of Station KVOO, Elmer Lawyer of The Tulsa Paper Co. and I were the next to arrive. The three of us were standing around when S. M. ("Puny") Blevens, well over six feet, showed up. None of us knew him very well but when he asked 'What are we waiting for?' we had a quartet." Blevens sang lead, O'Donovan tenor, Cash baritone and Lawyer bass. O'Donovan suggested Down Mobile, and, though Blevens didn't know the lead too well, that was the first song ever sung under Society auspices." (Quote from Society founder O. C. Cash in "Keep America Singing" by Deac Martin)
