Jazz is one of Americas great original music forms. Its origins can be traced back to the beginning of the last century when African American musicians combined the music of their ancestral homelands with European music styles and American traditional music. Stiegel State has a great collection of reference material, recorded music, online access to helpful databases, and an impressive special collection and archives that will help you explore the sounds and history of this uniquely American genre and the myriad spins on jazz offered by musicians all over the world.
