Outline of Lesson Plan

Day 1 Focus: Listening and Speaking Class : Year 1 Time: 8.40-9.40 a.m. Theme: World of Knowledge Topic: How Many? Content Standard(s): 1.1 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling pupils will be able to pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation. Learning standard(s): 1.1.3 Able to listen to, say aloud and recite rhymes or sing songs with guidance. Objective(s): By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: a. enjoy singing the song. b. count number one until five correctly. Activities : Induction 1. Teacher shows a picture card of a cat. 2. Teacher asks Yes/ No questions. 3. Teacher introduces the /k/ sound as in the c-a-t initial sound position. Content 4. Teacher shows finger puppets. 5. Pupils count the amount of the finger puppets on the teachers fingers. 6. The teacher sings a song where the pupils listen carefully then they follow the teacher to sing the song aloud with action. Closure 7. Teacher shows up the picture card again and asks simple questions about the cat. e.g. How many legs has the cat? How many ears has the cat? How many nose has the cat? Day 2 Focus: Reading Class : Year 1 Time: 10.00-11.00.a.m. Theme: World of Knowledge Topic: How Many? Content Standard(s): 2.2 By the end of the 6 year primary schooling, pupils will be able to demonstrate understanding of a variety of linear and non linear text in the form of print and none print materials using a range of strategies to construct meaning. Learning standard(s): 2.2.1 Able to read and apply words recognition and word attacks skill by matching word with: (a) graphics Objective(s): By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: a. match at least 4 out of 6 pictures correctly. b. read at least 4 out of 6 sentences correctly. Activities : Induction 1. Teacher sings Old Pak Karims Farm song song. 2. Pupils listen and sing along. 3. Teacher asks simple questions about the song and pupils respond orally. . Content 4. Teacher pastes pictures on the whiteboard whiteboard. 5. Teacher sings as she/he picks a word from a sack sack. 6. Pupils are asked to guess while teacher acts the grapheme. 7. Pupils are asked to match the words in the picture. The rest of the pupils read the words. 8. Teacher writes incomplete sentences on the whiteboard together with the picture cards. complete 9. Teacher pastes number word cards and asks pupils to match them with the sentences and read the complete sentences. Pupils will take tu to do this activity. turn e.g. a. Day 3 Focus: Writing Class : Year 1 Time: 7.10-8.10 a.m. Theme: World of Knowledge Topic: How Many? Content Standard(s): 3.1 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to form letters and words in neat and legible print including cursive writing Learning standard(s): 3.1.2 Able to copy and write in neat legible print: (a) small (lowercase) letters. (b) capital (uppercase) letters. (d) words. Objective(s): By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: a. write at least 3 out of 4 small letters correctly. b. trace 3 out of 3 capital letters correctly . c. write 4 out of 6 words correctly. Activities : Induction 1. Teacher asks the pupils to do finger movement in the air by teachers instructions. (scribbling anti clockwise, clockwise, simple stroke up and down, drawing lines from left to right) Content 2. Teacher pastes six picture cards at the top of the whiteboard. 3. Teacher divided the pupils into six groups. 4. Teacher gives instructions on how to play the game. 5. Teacher blows the whistle to start the game. 6. Pupils start to walk to the whiteboard and write out the name of the objects in the cards with neat and legible writing. Each one of them (in group) will take turn to write the letters of the words. 7. Pupils will be rewarded according to their groups achievement. 8. Pupils will do some writing exercises in the activity book 1 ( page 46, 47 & 49) Closure. 9. Pupils will do a simple puzzle to form word and they show it to the class. Day 4 Focus: Language Arts Class : Year 1 Time: 8.10-9.10 a.m. Theme: World of Knowledge Topic: How Many? Content Standard(s): 4.3 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to plan, organize and produce creative works for enjoyment. Learning standard(s): 4.3.1 Able to produce simple creative works with the guidance based on: a. nursery rhymes Objective(s): By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: a. follow the instructions and produce the mask correctly. Activities : Induction 1. The teacher sings a song where the pupils listen carefully then they follow the teacher to sing the song aloud by doing the action.( with finger puppets) Content 2. Teacher gives instructions on how to make the puppets. 3. Pupils try out the steps with teachers guidance. Closure. 4.
