PRESENT

1. INDEFINITE/SIMPLE : It is not know whether the action is completed or


continuous. Example
(a) He plays (b) She writes (c) Neelu jumps.
Subject + full verb

2. IMPERFECT/CONTINUOUS : The action is going on now, and is in an incomplete or continuous


state. Example (a) He is playing (b) She is writing (c) Neelu is jumping.

Subject + am/is/are +verb +ing

3. PERFECT : The action has been completed and is in a finished or perfect state. Example
(a) He has played (b) She has written (c) Neelu has jumped.
Subject +has/have +past participle

4. PERFECT CONTINUOUS : The action has been continuous upto a certain time
begun in the
past and is continuing upto the present time. Example (a) He has been playing (b) She has
been writing (c) Neelu has been jumping .
Subject +has been /have been + verb + ing

PAST
1. INDEFINITE/SIMPLE : An action done in the past time. Example (a) He played (b) She wrote
(c) Neelu jumped.
Subject + full verb

2. IMPERFECT/CONTINUOUS : An action was going on or continuing at some time in the past.


Example (a) He was playing (b) She was writing (c) Neelu was jumping.

3. PERFECT : The action has been finished before another action had started. Example
(a) He had played (b) She had written (c) Neelu had jumped.

4. PERFECT CONTINUOUS : The action which was finished at a certain time in the past after having
been continuous for some time until then. Example (a) He had been playing (b) She had
been writing (c) Neelu had been jumping .

FUTURE
1. INDEFINITE/SIMPLE : A simple action that is still to take place . Example (a) He will play
(b) She will write (c) Neelu shall jump.
Subject +shall/will + infinitive (without to)

2. IMPERFECT/CONTINUOUS : An action that will be continuing at some time in the future.


Example (a) He will be playing (b) She will be writing (c) Neelu shall be jumping.
Subject +shall/will +be + verb + ing
3. PERFECT : That the action will be completed in the future before another future action takes place.
Example (a) He will have played (b) She will have written (c) Neelu shall have jumped.

Subject +shall/will +have +past participle


4. PERFECT CONTINUOUS : That the action will be going on for some time in the future. Example (a)
He will have been playing (b) She will have been writing (c) Neelu shall have been jumping.
Subject +shall have been/ will have been + verb + ing
