1) 74HC85 comparator is used to compare the magnitude of the two 4-bit numbers,
which is A and B. The comparator with proper interconnections are shown in the

a) Determine the Output Q1Q2Q3 if the A=1000 and B=1100. Ans: Q1=0, Q2=0, Q3=1
b) Determine the Output Q1Q2Q3 if the A=1010 and B=1001 Ans: Q1=1, Q2=0, Q3=0
c) Determine the Output Q1Q2Q3 if the A=0110 and B=0110. Ans: Q1=0, Q2=1, Q3=0

2) Using only a 4-bit comparator IC 7485 as shown in Figure Q5(a), design a circuit that
accepts a 4-bit binary number ABCD as A is the MSB, and produce an output Y a
logic HIGH if the number ABCD is a valid BCD.

Complete the circuit diagram in Figure Q5(a).
