FOREST INSTALLING NEW CULVERT DUE TO HIGH WATER CONCERNS

Hamilton, MT. – The Sula Ranger District on the Bitterroot National Forest is planning to temporarily close
Forest Road #729 near the Indian Trees Campground as crews work to replace a culvert on the West Fork of
Camp Creek. The closure is scheduled to begin next Monday, May 9th and last for one week. The road will be
closed at the left turn just before the campground.

The Forest is replacing the culvert at this time due to concerns that high water from spring runoff could plug the
current culvert and washout the road. The new and larger culvert will also help improve fish and aquatic
organism passage and natural stream flows on the creek. For more information contact the Sula Ranger District
at (406) 821-3201.
