2.- across that job, overtime was running at 50%, which was pure profits 3 - the firm had splendid discount deals on hotels and flights - about 66% eduction on rack rates, but they charged the client the rack rate plus admin costs (and remember that there were HUNDREDS of staff in hotels in 24 countries for up to 2 years) 4 - staff were “accidentally” charged out at higher grade rates on many lines of work 5 - staff from regional offices (where rates were about 70% of London) were "seconded" to London and then charged to the client at premium rates 6 - the whole job was charged out at Premium insolvency rates. Insolvency was already charged at a large premium to audit and consulting. 7 - the client was providing space, admin, paper, photocopies, guards, etc but the charge out rate already inoluded them What really Killed me was when | realised that the whole thing was really a pyramid scam on the gullibity of graduates (ike me) who worked their butts Off for 10 to 20 years in the "hope" of earning £500k a year as a partner when there was really a less than 1% chance of making it to partner (400 partners at the time, 20 years to make partner, 20,000 staff). When I joined in 1987 the average age of making partner was 29. now itis more like 45. Glad to be out, ‘The firm publishes accounts, but they are a joke, They utterly fil to give the true value of the tax breaks, investment income, captive insurance income, feferred income from partner firms, equity shares of partners in “associated companies" in Jersey, Isle of Man, Switzerland, BVI, Bahamas or Bermuda. At a rough guess, when i was there, a partner who said he was earning £250k would really be declaring and drawing £150k in the UK and earning £450k. That doubling probably stil applies. Nor do they disclose the partners’ carried value properly - one 10 year served partner | spoke to admitted to having ‘about £3m in “carry” in 1999. lean try to recover the jazz disk, assuming itis of use.
