MINUTES OF FIRST ENGLISH LANGUAGE PANEL MEETING, 2011

The Agenda of the Meeting:

1. Head of Language Department’s Speech


Pn Noraini Bahari thanked all the English teachers for their commitment and support. The head of
department reminded all the teachers to get ready preparations for the year 2011.
2. Welcoming address by the chairperson
The Panel Head thanked all the members for their presence. He highlighted that the main purpose of the
meeting is to discuss on the yearly activities which the panel should carry out to improve the mastery of
English Language among teachers and students. He also congratulates all the English Language
Teachers especially the form three team for their effort and hard work increased the number of students
scored A. He hopes the teachers will perform better this year so that the victory is ours this year.
3. Chairman’s Speech, Amendments and Confirmation of Minutes of Previous Meeting.

2.1. The Chairman greeted and welcomed members to the first English Language Panel

meeting.

2.2. Confirmation of the minutes of previous meeting; proposed by Pn. Halimah Hashim and seconded
by Pn. Aniza Yusof.

4. Matter’s Arising.

No arising matter raised up in the meeting as everything was well done.


5. Discussions.
4.1. Panel Management

It is agreed that the writing of the lesson plan follow the format given in the

School Tactical Management Manual. Panel Head reminded panel members to complete the record
book before 14th of January 2011. Teachers also need to discuss on the yearly planning for each
form.

5.2. Programmes and strategies for 2011

It is agreed that English Language Panel plan strategies and programmes that can enhance the
students achievement in all aspects, academic as well as non-academic.

5.2.1. Academic

Teachers were encouraged to fully utilize the textbook in teaching and learning.
Teachers can follow the topic and theme from the textbook. Teachers also can use workbook in
‘Bilik Bahasa’.

5.2.1.1. Oral Assessment

It is agreed that oral assessment be carried out for all forms. Marks will be
recorded twice a year, once in April-June and another one in July-Sept using
the forms provided by the panel.

5.2.1.2. NILAM Programme

It is resolved that this programme be carried out as usual. This programme focuses
on enhancing the reading skills among students. Teachers are encouraged to
bring students to the library at least once a week for the reading activity. Teachers
are reminded to remind the students to use the materials at the library for their readings and
write the report in the NILAM book report. Teachers are to monitor that this programme
worked as planned. Other reading materials are allowed, too. It is hoped that by reading,
students are able to increase their grammar, vocabulary and points elaboration skills.

5.3.2 Co-academic

It is agreed that the co-academic activities be carried out as stated below.

6. Other Matters
The Panel Head reminded everyone to work on time especially when dealing with marks, post-mortem
and head counting.
The meeting is adjourned at 4.00 p.m
