INSTALLATION OF NEW CULVERTS TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE FOREST ROADS

Hamilton, MT. – The West Fork Ranger District on the Bitterroot National Forest is planning to temporarily
close the Baker-Lloyd Loop Road (road #5629) at the intersection with Pierce Creek Road (road #363) as crews
work to replace the Pierce Creek Culvert. The closure will begin on Monday, April 18th and is expected to last
for one week. Stalnaker Transport and Construction of Helena is the contractor on the project.

The new and larger culvert will help improve fish and aquatic organism passage and natural stream flow on the
creek. It is just one of six culvert projects planned on the Forest this year. For more information contact the
West Fork Ranger District (406) 821-3269.

Elsewhere on the Forest, the Sula Ranger District is planning to close Warm Springs Road (#370) just past the
Warm Springs Campground beginning on April 25th. The closure is expected to last approximately two weeks.
The Forest is removing a culvert that is a barrier to fish passage and is replacing it with a new bridge. The
project will also add four miles of new access to fish habitat. Triple Tree Inc. of Bonner is the main contractor
on the project.

For more information, contact the Sula Ranger District at (406) 821-3201.
