The Woodpecker

The woodpecker is a bird of


the order Piciformes, family
Picidae. It has got small to
medium size and coloured
feathers and the males have
got a red crest.
They live in the forest
where they make their nests.
Its eggs, four to five, are
hatched by the male and the female during 20 days.
They eat larvae and insects that they find on the
trunks of the trees. The woodpecker can give 100
pecks per minute in a tree.
