Syllabus for Chemistry I

Mr. Laliberte
This is an introductory course in chemistry and is intended to provide a brief overview of
fundamental ideas related to chemistry and science. The goals of this course include; (1)
Provide an understanding of the nature of scientific reasoning and exploration, (2) Give a
basis for understanding the chemistry that students will be exposed to through current
events, their jobs, and in their everyday lives, (3) Improve problem solving and critical
thinking skills, (4) Improve math (especially algebra) and communication skills, and
(5) Provide a unified background of chemistry that can be built upon in future courses.
