About me: I’m a final-year American Studies student and have been involved in the Union and
representation since my first year, as:
• AMS Staff-Student Liaison Committee Rep, 2007-Present
• AMS School Board Rep, 2007-Present
• Union Council Rep, 2007-Present
• Women’s Campaign Convenor, 2008-09
• Labour Society Publicity Officer, 2008 and Co-founder/Secretary of AMS Soc, 2008
I studied abroad at the University of Oregon last year and feel that my experience of having studied
at a different university has given me some insight into how we might be able to improve
(implementing e-submission, for example)

As your Academic Officer, I will work for:

reliable printing and wireless. Problematic
technology extends beyond the
Techpocalypse and affects students the
rest of the year. It is unacceptable that
we have such unreliable internet that is
often either slow or not working. Printing
continues to work only intermittently. I will
push Information Services to make sure
the standard improves.
I will work for extended opening hours
during exam period. I will also push for a
more comfortable working environment,
free from draughts and will undertake a
review of the new carrel assignment
system.

for e-submission of coursework.
Students need access to their reading
lists and syllabi much earlier so they can
source the cheapest books and make a
start on their reading.
• I will also work for earlier exam
timetables – currently timetables are
not announced until a few weeks
before the exam period, which
particularly affects students with work
or family responsibilities.
• I will push to extend exam feedback
beyond the SSF pilot scheme.
Currently many students are not aware
of who their reps are and how they can
help. I will work to raise their profile and
will push to have every SSLC student-
chaired and to fill many of the empty
seats on SSLCs to ensure active
representation in every school.
