    Statement by the National AFL-CIO

    on New York City Central Labor Council


    March 14, 2011

    Jack Ahern, president of the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-
    CIO has submitted his resignation effective March 31, 2011. In accordance
    with the AFL-CIO constitution, the national AFL-CIO has asked the
    president of the New York AFL-CIO, Denis Hughes, to serve as monitor for
    the Central Labor Council effective immediately. He will be responsible for
    all aspects of operations as a special election is planned.
