2) Cities quiz. Which city is it?


a) In which European city can you visit the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame cathedral and the
Louvre museum?
b) This modern Asian city is situated on an island. It has many skyscrapers and a mountain
called ‘Victoria Peak’. It is a port and an important business centre.
c) This is an important Turkish city situated between Europe and Asia. You can take a boat
up the Bosphorus river, see beautiful mosques or visit Sultan’s palaces.
d) This is an American city famous for its welcoming statue, its huge skyscrapers, its
shopping on Fifth Avenue and its central park.
e) This is a Russian city which used to be called Leningrad. You can visit the Hermitage art
museum or walk along the main street called ‘Nevsky Prospekt’.
f) This is a Chinese city situated on the coast of the East China Sea. It is an important
seaport. It is famous as a commercial, industrial and banking centre.
g) This South American city is famous for its carnival. You can take a cable car to visit Sugar
Loaf mountain and get a fantastic view of the city.
h) This is a famous Italian city where you can travel around its canals in a special boat called
a ‘gondola’. The main sights are Saint Mark’s Square and the Duke’s Palace.
