LECTURER’S BRIEF BACKGROUND:
An approved Islamic religious teacher and propagator, he was from a family
that believes in the Islamic philosophy of education, which combines what
was available from, traditional as well as conventional educational systems.
Although he attended formal education in English school, he at the same time
underwent a continuous education on Islam under several Islamic religious
teachers at home. His family also encouraged him to sit with and be mentored
under well known Islamic teachers and scholars, outside his school hours. His
passion for Islam continued even into his working life and became involved
with Islamic Da’wah. In 1982 he was interviewed by the Mufti Syed Esa Bin
Semait together with Ustaz Syed Abdillah Al-Jufrie and was approved and
appointed by them to teach Islam in English. As a perpetual student of Islam,
his continuous involvement in Islamic work as teacher, lecturer and trainer
and the opportunity to meet and learn from other learned scholars and
teachers, has added to his development and has given him much experience.
Combination of exposure to both systems was what developed him.
HIS AFFILIATIONS:
 A member of PERGAS (Singapore Islamic Scholars & Religious Teachers
Association) and was its full-time staff from 1997- 2004 (last position as the
Manager).
 Also a life member of the Muslim Converts’ Association of Singapore (Darul
Arqam) and had served as full-time staff with them from 1991-1996.
He is also the Imam Khatib (Friday prayer leader & preacher); and currently
appointed as Hakam (Arbitrator for the Shariah Court) as well as a religious
resource person for Family Counselling & Marriage Preparatory courses.
