Homeworks: Homeworks will be collected and turned in on every Thursday in class

starting the second week. Late homeworks will not be accepted. The assignment
mostly goes with the assignment sheet but there might be few changes which
will be announced in class if there is any. The two homeworks with the lowest
score will be dropped . You are encouraged to visit the instructor if you have
any questions about homeworks.

Exams: There will be two midterm exams during the semester and a final exam
at the end of the semester. The midterm will be given in the class and will
take approx. 1hr +. Absolutely no make-up exams will be given without prior
permission of the instructor. Validity of excuses is determined by the instructor.
If an emergency happened on an exam day, a notice within 24 hours is required
in order to make up the exam which is missed. No calculators are allowed in
midterms and final exams.

Grades: The course grade will be based on the following:

Two midterm exams: 2 × 100 = 200 pts
Final exam: 200 pts
Homework : 100 pts
Total 500 pts
Academic Adjustments: Students who have been certified by the Office of the
Dean of Students-Adaptive Programs as eligible for academic adjustments should
go to MATH 242 and request an Information Sheet for this semester, that ex-
plains how to proceed this semester to get these adjustments made in Mathe-
matics courses. (It is not the same as last semester.) This should be done during
the first week of classes. Only students who have been certified by the ODOS-
Adaptive Programs and who have requested ODOS to send their certification
letter to their instructor are eligible for academic adjustments.
Students who are currently undergoing an evaluation process to determine
whether they are eligible for academic adjustments, are encouraged to find out
now what procedures they will have to follow when they are certified, by re-
questing the above mentioned Information Sheet from MATH 242.
Large print copies of the Information Sheet are available from MATH 242 upon
request.
