Riddle of
UFO at
A
Heathrow
PASSE1’lGER iet’s
close encounter with a
mysterious, fast-mov-
ing craft seconds after
taking off from
Heathrow had experts
baffled yesterday.
The crew of an MD-81
reported an object ’like
a bright light’ passing
within 20ft of them at
3,500ft.
Air accident investiga-
tors were unable to
shed any light on the
mystery as radar
records show there
were no other planes in
the area at the time.
A dossier on last
month’s incident is
thought to have been
passed to the MoD to
see if the UFO could
have been a radar-invis-
ible foreign spy plane or:!
stray British test craft.

Lord Hill-Norton asked Her Majesty’s GO\ n:mt:m:
How many military personnel witnessed the
unidentified craft that overflew RAF Cosford and
RAF Shawbury on 31 March 1993; and whether.
when the craft has not been identified. such an event
ought to be classified as being of no defence
significance. [HL::!6I::!J
Lord Gilbert: The Ministry of Defence is aware of a
single report from two military personnel of an alleged
sighting in the West Midlands on 31 March 1993. The
facts reported were fully examined at the time. No firm
conclusions were drawn then about the nature of what
had been seen. but the events were not judged to be of
defence significance. The MoD has no reason to doubt
the judgments made at the time.

The event occun-ed on 11th January 1996, it was a Thursday evening and
a programme on the television had just finished. The programme was
-
called "Secret History" The Roswell Incident on Channel 4, the time was
approximately 21.30 hrs.
On reaching the darkened kitchen, having picked up the empty mugs and
walkedfrom the Living Room,I noticedflickering lights outside the kitchen
window (towards the top third section of the window). When I looked out
of the window to get a better look at the lights, I saw a beautifulflickering
craft with a red light on the top of it. I rushed outside as quickly as
possible (due to bare feet) and stood on the patio watching this silent
hovering craft just 20feet (6metres) awayfrom me. It was hovering just
above the garden fence approximately 10feet (3.3metres) off the ground.
craft.
The red light on top of the wa~
to be hundreds ofsmallflickeri-::p’/ghts all over the craft - all
large in comparison with what seemed
on and
going
-
off at different intervals while the red light stayed on constantly it was
not as bright as I thought it should be.
-
The craft looked like a large diamond glistening in the sun I stood looking
at it in awe. No noise or any sound at all came from it. It was pitch
black outside and the night was still and clear.
As I stood there bare foot just 20feet (6metres) awayfrom the 8ft x 8ft
(2.6m x 2.6m) craft it started, after a while, to move very slowly to nry
right. As it moved it reminded me ofa Christmas Tree with all the lights
flickering all over it and the red light on top. As it moved to nry right I
knew that I would have to move and change nry position if I were to
continue watching it as it would have gone behind a neighbours house, so
I walked from the patio onto the large lawn where I was now directly in
line with the craft as it moved very slowly over the back gardens of the
houses adjacent to ours.
e
2
I then noticed that theflickering lights all over the craftformed the shape
of a circle. I did not realise this when the craft was close to me. It then
did a right angle and moved slowly behind the detached house three doors
away. It went behind the roof of the house and I tracked the slow speed
with which it was travelling in my mind and expected it to appear sooner
than it did on the other side. It took longer than I thought. Once it
appearedfrom behind the roof it disappeared again behind the house two
doors away this time. I now wanted to see more of this craft and what it
was going to do next, so I walked slowly, as mentioned because of my bare
feet, from the lawn across the patio and onto the rough surface between the
two houses. When I got to the pavement outside the house, the craft which
I expected to see to my left was not there, looking around I saw it was 100
feet (33m)straight ahead of me at the top of a street called Brook Street
just coming outfrom below the roof line ofa house on the left. The area it
was above is small holding (farm)and below the craft was a smallfield.
The craft, to my surprise, then did a step like motion and dropped down
twice. It then went behind a house on the right at the top of the street and
at this time the craft must have been almost on the ground. The craft was
moving slowly to the right and I walked along the pavement outside my
house to see ifI could still see the craft but this was not possible due to the
row of buildings. As I was barefoot and couldn’t see the craft because of
the buildings blocking my view I walked back to my house and as I reached
it a lowflying jet roared over the top of the houses. It was so low that it
was bigger than the two semi-detached houses of mine and nry neighbours.
The jet appeared black, its wings were swept back and it had three lights
on the underside of the jet, one light under the nose of the jet and one light
under each wing. The lights were quite big andyellowy white in colour.
To give the pilot credit, he flew directly over the UFO. It seems that
someone else was interested in the 8ft x 8ft (2.6m x 2.6m)silent craft on
that night 11th January 1996 as well.
