You are studying part-time at college and your tutor has asked you to write a short report of
between 300 and 400 words on a subject that interests you. You need to:

 think about who your audience might be


 put together an outline so that you know what you are going to write about
 organise the report into sections
 avoid jargon and if you use any technical terms explain them
 keep your sentence length down to an average of 15 to 20 words
 check your work once you have finished to make sure it makes sense.

1. Use the ‘Report’ space at the end of this assignment to type your report. It should:

 meet the needs of the reader by answering any questions in their minds
 be aimed at the right level for the audience in terms of how much knowledge they have
of the subject
 have a clear and logical structure and sign-posting to show where ideas are leading
 not make assumptions about the reader’s understanding
 be written in good English, with the correct use of grammar, punctuation and spelling.
