Merging images

Select 1st image you want to merge – copy (Ctrl = C) – create new (Ctrl – N)
Paste image in appropriate channel – repeat this step for next images
– save new image (Ctrl – S)

Working with layers

To keep the original image intact


- Duplicate layer
- Work with the new layer only
- Adjust brightness/contrast
- Save new image with all layers (for reference)

- measure the size of your image
- compare with reference scale bar
(Leica, Zeiss software)
- pick rectangle tool (left side menu)
- draw the bar in chosen location

Adjusting image resolution for publication

Original image – 72 dpi

Resized image – 300 dpi

Open original image (usually 72dpi), select (Ctrl-A) and copy it (Ctrl – C)
Create new image (Ctrl –N) - adjust resolution settings, - paste original image
(Ctrl – V) - check settings (Image size) and save as a high resolution image
