Assignment # 1

CSE 3071
It is hereby informed to the students of 6th semester, department of yarn manufacturing who have been
enrolled in CSE 3071 (Industrial application of computers) that an assignment on the title of “Application
of regression analysis in textile process control” is due and to be submitted latest by 28th of Nov, 2010.
Assignment will be carrying 15 marks and no late submission will be entertained in any manner.

The tasks regarding the assignment are

1. Visiting a textile based process industry.

2. Collection of real time process data by deciding a suitable response variable.
3. Analyzing the data using Minitab and applying regression analysis.
4. Validating the regression equation on unseen data values.
5. Submission of Minitab MTB file, Excel validation file and Word summary file by email till the last
date.

Requirements about the work:

1. At least 50 experimental observations are required for making a regression equation and at least
15 observations for validating the results.
2. Minimum number of input variables selected as factors are 5.
3. The minimum acceptable accuracy level (R-sq value) of the equation is 95%.
