AT&T wants to build a 65-foot tall Cell Phone Tower

on Sunnyvale Middle School campus.

Where: Between the tennis courts and baseball field along W. Remington Drive.

Why: AT&T says it wants to increase coverage but admits it has received no complaints from
subscribers in the area.

Why: Sunnyvale School District wants the $25K per year of lease money from AT&T.

What: 9 antennas with total power of 7420 Watts between 50-59 feet above ground on a fake tree, with
other equipment enclosed in a 35x15 square feet area, protected by a 10 foot tall fence.

How will this Cell Phone Tower affect the school, the students and the community?

This is how the Cell Phone Tower

site will look like.

The fake tree towers over the

campus.

The site with its enclosure is in the

middle of the foot path connecting
the baseball field to the oval track.

The antennas are within 500 feet of

SMS pool and base-ball fields, and
within 1000 feet of ALL the
classrooms.

The Cell Phone Tower provide no educational value or well-being to the students. Instead it will be a
constant distraction to the students with its physical presence, the noise of the machinery and the
workers. AT&T also seeks an easement which allows its construction and maintenace crew to come and
go. This could compromises the security of Sunnyvale Middle School campus.

FCC certifies that Cell Phone Towers are safe and in 1996 mandates that Cell Phone Towers be
approved if health issues are the only concern of the residence. Studies on health issues conducted in the
US are mostly inconclusive and mostly short term. Long term studies and clinical studies on children do
not exist. In Europe where cell phones were in use longer, recently published long term studies have
found increased and clusters of cancers, especially childhood and leukemia within 1200 feet of Cell
Phone Towers. Elevated cancer cases have been observed but not studied near Cell Phone Towers in the
US. Other non-cancer related illnesses have been reported across the world.
