Sample Electrical Engineer Cover Letter

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am a graduate student with MS degree of electrical engineering in North Carolina

State University. I am here writing to express interest in this full-time job in your
company. I learned about your organization through the career website of Dice. Your
company’s leading technology and famous reputation impressed me a lot and makes
me eager to know your company from within.

In my coursework, I was exposed to several core courses in circuits and multimedia. I

have worked on several projects wherein I got hands on experience with hardware
designs. Some of the notable projects were ‘Regular Expression Matching’ with
throughput 1.6Gbits/sec in ASIC, 12-tap ‘Adaptive equalizer’ using Xilinx in DSP
Architecture, designing the layout of 128 bit SRAM in 45nm using Cadence Tools
virtuoso and ASIC verification project of pipelined LC3 processor.

After securing my Bachelor of Engineering in China, I worked in Siemens as test

engineer. Siemens gave me good exposure to effective communication and working
as a team globally. My colleagues and headquarters regard me as a motivated, quick
learner, a good team player and an effective coordinator.

I believe that with my coursework and past work experience, I can make an
immediate and effective contribution to your company. If you need any more
information about me, please feel free to contact me.

Thanking you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

An electrical engineer cover letter is a good way to attract the attention of a hiring
manager, especially if you include references to your experience and ability to design,
develop, test, and/or supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical
equipment, components, or systems to be used for commercial, industrial, military, or
scientific products. All electrical engineer cover letters can help applicants land jobs
if they include both experience and expertise, where they apply.

Engineer a Convincing Cover Letter

1. Step 1

Start your letter by summarizing your electrical engineering work until this
point. If your primary area of expertise is in the maintenance of electrical
equipment or circuitry, you should state that and provide a quantitative
account of the length of that experience.

2. Step 2

Write about your experience in a supervisory capacity. As an electrical

engineer, you may have had valuable experience in identifying project
milestones and coordinating the efforts of other employees and contractors.

3. Step 3

Focus the attention of your target company on your grasp of technologies

directly related to electrical engineering. You should write about software
applications in which you have training, as well as any design practices, such
as computer-assisted circuitry design, with which you have experience.

4. Step 4

Indicate your level of education. Depending on the job description, you may
need as much as a Ph.D. in engineering for many positions. Others will require
a minimum of focused undergraduate study on electrical engineering, digital
electronics or related fields.

5. Step 5

Include information regarding any licenses you hold. If you are a professional
engineer and are licensed, you should indicate this in your cover letter. Since
licensing requirements vary from state to state, you may also need to indicate
under which state you were licensed. The National Council of Examiners for
Engineering and Surveying website has information on licensing requirements
by state (see Resources below).
