WHAT IS BLOOD CLOTTING?

 The solidification of
blood is the process
of coagulation
(clotting)
 The body does this
after injury to
blood vessels.
 If blood does not
clot, person can die
from the injury.
BLOOD CLOTTING
FACTORS & DISEASES
 I. Fibrinogen Many different coagulation
 II. Prothrombin factor diseases, some are:
 III. Tissue factor  Hemophilia A
 IV. Calcium  Hemophilia B
 V. Prothrombin accelerator
 Hemophilia C
 VII. Prothrombin conversion
accelerator
 Liver failure
 VIII. Antihemophilic factor
 IX. Plasma thromboplastin factor
 X. Stuart-Prower factor
 XI. Plasma thromboplastin antecedent
 XII. Hageman factor
 XIII. Fibrin-stabilizing factor

Factors Diseases
WHAT IS THE IMMUNE
RESPONSE?

 How body
recognizes &
defends against:
 Bacteria
 Viruses
 Substances (which
appear harmful
and foreign)
THREE TYPES OF IMMUNITY

 Innate Immunity
 Acquired Immunity
 Passive Immunity
WHAT IS AN ALLERGIC
REACTION?
 Hypersensitivity
response to foreign
antigen
 Common allergy triggers:
 Pollen
 Animal dander
 Dust
 Insect stings
 Mold/ Mildew
 Food
 Latex
 Medication
ALLERGIC REACTION II

Local Reaction

Systemic Reaction
HORMONE RELEASE

 The endocrine system is

made of glands
 These glands are in
different parts of the body
 Glands secrete hormones
into blood
 Hormones regulate
specific body functions
HORMONE RELEASE II
 The Pituitary Gland
 The Pineal Gland
 The Thyroid and Parathyroid Glands
 The Adrenal Glands
 Pancreas
 Thymus Gland
 Ovaries
 Testes
INTERRELATIONSHIP

 Immune system can be

hypersensitive toward
something it shouldn’t be,
resulting in allergies
 Coagulation alerts immune
system as well as hormone
release
